Does anybody know if there are any sources out there for estimates on how many are actually using FTA satellite receivers? Appreciate any help with getting some numbers for a report....links to the data would also be appreciated if possible....thanks in advance!

I don't know where you'd find that kind of information
as there is no "list of subscribers", (as in FREE).
But I'll let ya in on something - in the US,
it's nothing like some other countries where the primary delivery system for subscription and free "TV" is satellite.

FTA is FREE. (except for what you determine to pay for equipment)
One of the last freedoms we are still allowed to enjoy.

On that first pic, it looks like the building has a disease :D

It can be additive as you roam through the channels. Too bad there isn't more English channels on the Ku satellites though. My favorite is the VA and Pentagon channels since I am a retiree and want to keep in touch with what is new. I like some of the news channels also to get an independent voice in some cases and read between the lines on other news channels like those from Iran, Russia, and China.

Using
them
for
what?

Sorry if my question was not clear. Looking for the number of consumers or households that are using satellite dishes (k band, non paying) to recieve television programming. Focus is on k band but if numbers include c band would be ok. I am also looking for numbers of households relying solely on the new digitial transmissions from existing TV stations. I would appreciate any suggestions or links, just haven't been able to find any reliable numbers. Thanks in advance.

I do not think there is any way you could find out how many people have FTA equipment. Since it is all free, there us no way to keep records.

Actually that's one of those Million Dollar questions. A lot of good use could come from knowing the demographics of FTA users. But the lack of such knowledge would seem mostly responsible for keeping the content we like to watch unscrambled. In this rare case, knowing yourself could be very destructive. So we live in happy bliss watching our FTA and believing there are more of us than there actually are and somebody cares. LOL

around here, folks ask me what all the dishes are for?
I tell them and they reply FREE TV? I want some!
Then i tell them there is some learning to do and thats the last i hear of it, sheesh.
I would think that the whole darn world would want FTA!

do like dtv did years ago,put up a commercial for a free t-shirt when you call the 1-800 number on a sat that is only fta.
