How's The Speed?!

Its been a wild and crazy three weeks, but today I am excited to announce that we have completed our move to our new server and new ISP!

Everything on SatelliteGuys.US is now operating off our new State Of The Art server! We needed to move to a new server as we were almost out of space on our old server. Now we have plent of room to GROW GROW GROW!!

Besides moving to a new server we moved ISP's... we moved from Dallas, TX to our new ISP in Lansing, MI! Our new ISP gives us more direct backbone connections, better support and the ability to grow even more in the future!

So now the question is how is the speed?

(I should note that if your not a supporting Pub Member, the speed will be slowed slightly because of the external syndicated ads. Supporting Pub Members don't see those ads and get to feel the true power of the new server.)

Please use this thread to discus the speed of the new server/isp. (And only speed related discussion only please!)

The site feels noticeably faster to me. Switching between threads feels almost instant now.

Viewing the site with ads, it's about the same few seconds delay before any content appears as before. That being said, even with the ad delays, it's not bad.

Scott, the one factor you may wish to consider in this poll is whether the individual is a Pub Member or not. I'm a Pub Member (no ads) and the new site/servers is Blazing Fast on my end...not sure if the same can be said for non Pub Members.

Feels about the same, most of the site is loaded from browser cache is why, re-retrieving the page contents generally runs 250-400ms. Only time site speed is noticeable to me is when I access it from the Revue or click on a link from my cell phone and then I want to kill a kitten as smoke appears to emanate from the device.

Homepage loads around 5 seconds uncached and not logged in on my Macbook

With adblock on Chrome as a non-paying member every page on the site including the homepage loads in just under 1.3-1.85 seconds.

Slightly faster. The same problems are occurring again with my posts, except this time I get a small Avatar pic instead of none, and when I hit refresh it goes back to normal size

Tested on 2 comps, one with an ad-blocker (my work one) and a lapper with no ad block and it's faster on the work puter. Same as before on the other.

its never been really slow for me, but, I can see a definite increase in site speed...
