Slow Guide on 722K

I've been monitoring this thread as this "bug" has reared its head on our 722k also, but I have noticed something the past three nights. Each night, at exactly 11:00 est, the guide speeds back up again. The second night I thought maybe there is something to this, then last night, it did the same thing. Weird and frankly, I can't really explain it, but it defintely speeds back up at exactly 11:00 for me.

I assume you mean EDT, but I can say in any event that the only thing that restores normal operations for me (722K/L688) is the POR I mentioned previously. I can see where the multiple apparently contradictory/complicating behaviors would make debug a bear, but I would've been in daily management "assistance" meetings if it was my bug. I wouldn't wish that "assistance" on anyone, but seriously, Dish ...

I called Dish and they sent a tech and replaced my 722k with a 722 and the receiver works perfectly now. Strangely, I was told that they couldn't ship me a 722, only a 722k so the only way to switch from a 722k to a 722 was to have a tech come out.

Someone posted earlier that Dish isn't replacing receivers for this bug, but I really didn't have much trouble getting them to swap it out for me.

I don't think that is what was stated. In fact, the phone rep you dealt with obviously didn't "get the memo" or search on Dish's side well enough. One of the DIRT members here confirmed it is a software bug. Replacing the hardware will not (permanently) solve it. When you get the new receiver, you probably won't see the bug right away. Odds are though, it will come back.

Just wondering why you'd wanna swap a 722K for a 722 NON-K???

Yes time nazi, I mean EDT, lol. :)

In any event, again last night, at 11:00, it sped up again. Something happens on my box, at that time, that speeds it up...we're past the "coincidence" point now.

Mine received L690 last night. It was not running slow this afternoon (as has been usual).
Thanks for the info which prompted me to check and find I was also just updated to L690. Owing to the phase of the moon and/or the expulsion of gas by a small, flightless parrot in New Zealand, mine only slows in the evening - time variable. L690 doesn't seem to have been a curative in some cases, but ... we shall see.

Yes, I would surely despise having any accurate data so that I might attempt a correlation with my own machine's behavior. None exists, but thanks so very, very much for the clarification. Mea maxima culpa ... :facepalm

Wow, someone is sorely lacking a sense of humor as well as any indication of what "lol" means, or even the context of a " :) ".

Lighten up Alice.

One of us is strange - or (most likely) of limited capacity. I suggest a mirror. If you are truly that clueless (and there is more than ample evidence that you are) then ... read a history book or watch something other than "Biggest Loser" or ... something. I have neither the patience nor the forbearance to continue a debate with someone like you. Over and ... out.

So let me get this straight, your lacking the understanding of a joke, or even the emoticons that indicate something is said in jest, yet I am the one that is clueless? I actually was a History major in college and I understand the Holocaust quite well, but calling someone a "time nazi", in an OBVIOUSLY jocular manner, with the icons and "lol" to prove it, is about as offensive as calling someone a goober.

This is a bizarre forum; for all its advertisements and slogans about it being "friendly", this particular discussion forum seems full of some people that just love to argue and have some serious lack of humor issues. People need to seriously lighten up around here.

Boys, boys! I in fact was just thinking earlier about how this forum is rather tame compared to some others I frequent... I'm not quite sure what went wrong with that conversation there, but can we just get back to discussing the topic at hand?

I can understand the frustration that the slow guide can give, though, I suffered greatly from that on my two 722Ks from firmwares L662 thru pre-L685... I was quite pissed, but ironically now my machines are behaving and I'm seeing people have problems that never had problems pre-L685  ...
