Bears-Raiders was protected by FOX, and Pats-Eagles was protected by CBS. So either Broncos-Chargers or Bills-Jets could have replaced Steelers-Chiefs.

IMO, there are two factors at play here:

1. The Jets, Bills and Chargers were ALL terrible in their respective last games, and all have the look of going in the wrong direction.

2. You usually can't go wrong with the Steelers when it comes to ratings. I think it was the safer bet to keep this game.

Bill, where do you find the protected game lists?

Interesting that CBS protected Pats-Eagles instead of Broncos-Chargers. But I guess even those the Eagles are sucking right now, they're still a high-profile team which I guess that's why CBS protected that game.

I also think the reason why they protected the Pats/Eagles is because its the supposed "Dream Team", Mike Vick might play and people hate him and its Tom Brady and the Pats. With the Broncos you have Tebow but what else?

Week 10: FOX- Saints at Falcons..........CBS- None
Week 11: FOX- Cowboys at Redskins.......CBS- Chargers at Bears
Week 12: FOX- Bears at Raiders...........CBS- Patriots at Eagles
Week 13: FOX- Packers at Giants..........CBS- Jets at Redskins
Week 14: FOX- None..............CBS- Patriots at Redskins
Week 15: FOX- Redskins at Giants..........CBS- Jets at Eagles

You'll notice most teams are the VERY GOOD teams, or East Coast/Big City. That's where the ratings are, and that's what it's about........not necessarily a better game.

Wonder when HIS contract is up and what the Pack will offer vs what he'll ask for...
Seems like a huge bargain now, compared to what some others signed for. From 2008:

The Green Bay Packers signed first-year starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a contract extension through the 2014 season on Friday.

The deal will pay Rodgers more than $11 million a year and will include $20 million in guarantees

Yup ....

He probably makes plenty already as well.

If they would only get rid of his commercials.

Rodgers is signed through 2014.

Here's how he ranks among his peers (base salary in millions for 2011):

1. Mark Sanchez: $14,750,000
2. Michael Vick: $13,000,000
3. Matt Cassel: $12,250,000
4. Ben Roethlisberger: $11,600,000
5. Carson Palmer: $11,500,000
6. Matt Ryan: $11,250,000
7. Tony Romo: $9,000,000
8. Matthew Stafford: $9,000,000
9. Eli Manning: $8,500,000
10. Phillip Rivers: $8,400,000
11. Jay Cutler: $7,600,000
12. Drew Brees: $7,393,500
13. Kyle Orton: $7,379,000
14. Aaron Rodgers: $7,250,000
15. Donovan McNabb: $7,250,000
16. Tom Brady: $5,750,000

*keep in mind a lot of these players have incentives in their contracts that increase their annual salary. The average salary of a top 5 QB turns out to be $20 million/yr.

Under his old contract, Palmer was set to make $11.5 million. Prorated over the final 11 games, he would have made $7.44 million. The Raiders will pay him $2.5 million for the remainder of this season. So he took a $5 million dollar paycut....to leave the Bengals.

Sanchez, Orton, McNabb, Cassell and to some extent, Vick..do NOT belong in that pay scale. AT LEAST Vick brings helter-skelter excitement to the game...but the other 4.....:coffee

If the Jets lose to Denver, Rex Ryan should keep his big fat face in the mountains for a while. And Sanchez can stay there with him.
