Yeah it does. I have composite going to my SD CRT and the new guide displays fine on it. It also works with S-Video as well.

On my other DVR I have HDMI going to my TV and Component going to my SlingBox and both work there as well.

Are you outputting a signal in composite and HDMI from the same unit? I have read that if you don't set the receiver to 480p you will just get a message on your SD screen telling you to do so. My concern is having a DVD recorder hooked up to the receiver to record in SD and not being able to view the "List" to choose what to record without changing the setting on the receiver. If this is not true then I will be very happy.

To add, I read on another site that you can just hold down the "Exit" button to toggle back and forth between HD and SD that might work out OK as well.

It SUCKS. Much harder to read, more like imposible. Looks like they're trying to look like everyone else.

You certainly are entitled to your opinion, but I doubt many would agree with you. I find it MUCH easier to read. Why having it clearer makes it harder for you to read is a mystery to me.

agreed. those bright whites and blues were harsh on the eyes for me.

Exactly; its just a guide. Not what 99.999% of users worry over. Even if they had 20 choices, a percentage would not like it. Use TitanTV or Zap2It as your EPG!!! ARGH! Just watch the quality programming.
As you can't use the receiver to access these services nor can you use the services to change channels or schedule recordings, your recommendation is a slap in the face.

The only issue I have with it is for the non-DVR autotune function that pops up and sits there for approx. 3 minutes. The old pop-up was translucent but the new black one blocks out that portion of the picture. Could miss out seeing something extremely critical. Ha Ha.

Well count me in as another person that would just as soon have the old one back - & who IS the idiot that designed this "improved" GUI, that thought instead of having a simple, thin time bar at the bottom of the screen, to change it to a BIG BLACK BLOB with the same time bar, to block the ENTIRE bottom 1/3 of the screen instead???

Sounds to me that you might have your TV set in TORCH mode. In other words, the settings the TV had out of the Box from the store. In 99 percent of TV purchases the Brightness, Contrast and Color saturation is set WAY to high out of the box, this is done to attract more attention in the store.

If the on screen white and blues on your Display are harsh to your eyes its a dead give away.

I, for the life of me, cannot understand why anyone would hate something that is clearer, has a better image, is a lot faster, and is much easier to navigate. There is nothing about the older blue SD GUI that is superior to the newer HD GUI in anyway. To each his (her in this case) own I guess.

That is similar to those who would rather watch a blurry stretch SD show on their TV instead of an upcoverted better PQ 4:3 pillar-boxed show of the same program on the HD channel. My parents will change a show to the SD channel so they can stretch it if the one on the HD channel is pillar boxed.

Glen,

Did you ask here what it is that she prefers on the older one. Is it just a matter of what she is used to?

I prefer the old one because when you look at cast & crew for say a movie on TCM 256 or Fox 258 you would get info about the people date of birth date of death other movies and TV shows they are in and the name of the person they are playing in the Movie your watching. Right now when I select cast & crew setting nada it only shows the peoples names no other info,

Wait a minute here ... the newer Recvrs should give you the info your looking for already.

I go to the Cast and Crew section often and it tells me all the info about the people and the Movies and TV shows they've been in ect.

What recvr and software are you running ?

And so it starts! :)

Too bad that DirecTV didn't give a few choices for themes.

I have to agree on both of the above post......also un update on my post . I unplugged my dvr box. It now seems to be working correctly after I plugged it back in.
Also it does seem to have better definition than it had prior to the up grade, or was it because I wipped the dust off the TV screen?:coffee

Who is everyone else? My Charter looked nothing like this.

Even their HD version in their demo video looks nothing like it.

Surly Dish doesn't look anything like it.

I have no problem reading it from 10 feet away on my 32" 1080P.
