Took advantage of the new online cancel button. return HR-24?

I cancelled my Directv service a couple days ago using the cancel my service button. In the past, this button just gave a message saying Thanks for letting us know and giving a number to call. This time it popped up a form with cancel terms. I just used a pulldown menu with the main reason.
The main reason for this thread is to ask if they want an HR-24 back? I will keep it anyway in case they send me an e-mail wanting it back.
 
you should get an e-mail stating weather they want it back or not. we were told it's upto the computer to decide... god forbid direct had to use there brains!!! so when you called in did they do everything in there power to try and retain you 🤔

we just got an e-mail saying they don't want there genie 2 there c61k or there gemini box back. your milage will vary!!! though one would figure they would want the gemini box back though it's more than likely cheaper for em to toss em out than to recover them!!!

I didn't call in. The cancel my service button listed where my package was listed online works for cancelling without calling now. They did send an e-mail offering 100.00 debit card if I signed up for 2 year contract. No thanks

we called in a canceled since we wanted it disconnected at that very second. they told us to toss out our gemini 4k mini and hs 17 they didn't want it back. nor did they work with us to put us on a real directv acct. when were were on the phone with the higher up rep i heard the guy on the sales line they sounded like he was from a third world country!!! so i asked the other rep if it was still being run by AT&T he said yep but the directv reps are not suppossed to be called AT&T reps!! so if we would hev done another two years though we would have had a directv acct. the whole sh*t show is still being ran by AT&T!!! no thanks. they made no offers to try and retain us and told us that we would be getting a debit card in the amount of unused services...

i would send em all of there sh*t back weather they want it back or not!!! they might try and bill you for it if they told you to recycle it.. as that's the new thing there trying to do to us now... that's ok i have my lawyer stepping in.. that should give em a wake up call... one reason i don't mind owning my boxes is because of crap like this and dealing with idiots that have there heads stuck so far up there A$$ES they can't see 3 seconds in front of themselves

That's what they told us we got the e-mail and everything saying to toss it all. Now they want there crap back!!! I'll let my lawyer handle those idiots.. I even sent him the recorded phone call when the rep said to trash it all... we cancelled on sept 8th funny there wanting it back now!!! Tough titty said the kitty if they want there crap back so bad they can go dig it out of the dumpsite!!! They told us to toss the HS-17 the gemini and the C61K in the trash remotes and all

I spoke with a Loyalty technician a couple days ago about 'migrating' from satellite to streaming and he said they no longer want the old equipment back.

They told us that to and to toss everything and now there trying to charge us for the gemini after they told us to toss it!!! be careful whenever a csr's lips are flapping there lying
 
My lawyer called me today they reversed the charges since it was there screwup and i had the proof the e-mail and the recorded phone call :)

Funny thing was is they always wanted the gemini box back all of a sudden they didn't.. they told us to toss it and i asked they guy about the gemini he said toss that to... next billing cycle we got a charge for it!!! got my lawyer involved and they credited it back!!!

IF you hadn't been such a D* Hater, you could have just called them and inquired and they would have taken it right off.

I've been using D*'s equipment for 20+ years, they haven't asked for anything back in the last 10+ years ....

Wonder why they want your back ?????

Maybe they see that your constantly having issues ?

They are not asking for anything back now because they are getting OUT of the Sat side of things, why would they want stuff back ?
They already have enough stock to cover existing subs.

We did call and ask them to reverse the charges they refused to. back in the covid days they wanted our HR 54 and clients back them not wanting there stuff back is new to us!! maybe we were constantly having issues because of a glitch on our acct since we were on the att billing system!!! we kept telling em about the glitch they gave us false hopes that it would be fixed it never was they screwed something else up if they tried to fix it... i wonder why they want me back as i would never go back customer service is the pitts. i would say they lost there asses on our acct due to there own faults.. sad just sad.. you would have been there to see it to belive it!!! they never took us off the att system.. they told us we would have to open a new acct up i asked if they would waive the activation fee due to the situation they refused to so we moved on...

OK ....

I have sent stuff back, back when they would send you a return box, then when they went to dropping the equipment off at Fed Ex and all the way up to Now when they said to toss most of them.

If the 1st person couldn't take care of your issue, did you Call back and get someone in the Billing Dept or just whatever CSR that answered the phone ?

Also, Quit blaming the ATT system ....
Do you REALLY think that ATT came in to ALL the Locations and removed working systems and replaced them with thier own, ????

Moving from ATT account to D* account should not require any kind of an Activation Fee, what are they activating ?
They are swapping existing service, no fees required, your not turning anything new on.

If you go into the conversation Mad with a negative attitude, thats probably the results you'll get.
 
I'm a little late to this conversation but thought I'd mention that I cancelled in May and they didn't want my HR54 or three HR24s returned. That surprised me — I figured they'd surely want the HR54. Nope.
