Anyone know if the CW will ever be made available in HD? I currently get the CW on 3 different channels. One via antenna, one as a part of my locals via Dishnetwork and one out of NYC, all 3 are only available in SD. My wife is ready to switch to a different provider just to get this channel in HD, as she watches so many shows on it. (I don't think DirecTV offers it in HD either)

Anyone know anything about this channel and will it ever be made available in HD?

Thanks.

Each CW is dependent on market. For instance, the Pittsburgh market has the CW in HD. What market are you in?

Erie PA, I don't think it's available locally in HD. But one of the Channels I get it on is WPIX out of NYC which is available in HD but we only get it in SD on channel 234

Dish has only added CW HD in larger markets thus far, similar to adding PBS HD. I doubt the rest of us will get it until they are forced to add all the HD locals in each market. An exception might be if the local CW is also owned by one of the Big 4 in a market and carriage is dependent on the CW being added to get the Big 4 station.

Dish only gives you the CW in HD if its available (and they agree to it)
Erie CW is a subchannel on WSEE and isnt in HD at all....so little hard for Dish to carry it in HD ;)

There are some markets that do get the CW from NY (WPIX) along with a local CW. Back when it was WB alot of smaller markets got WPIX instead of their local CW. Dish has now started carrying CW in markets like that but not dropping the NY version. My locals are the same in Duluth, MN. We get KDLH-DT2 (CW) and WPIX. Our CW is actually in SD widescreen so when you tune in you may get one of 4 screen setups
-black bar on sides
-the box in a box
-widescreen (black bars on top and bottom)
-full screen

UGH!

I must say they are doing it as they reach agreements. Boston is in the top ten and only the big four are in HD here. I said this in other posts, Boston's WGBH produces much of PBS programing, and still SD. It's simply based on contracts, not big vs small.

Would be nice is Dish could offer one national CW channel in HD in the interim.Would certainly be doable b/width wise.

In Tulsa we got our CW in HD when Griffin Communications contract for our CBS came up. Griffin also owns our CW affiliate. Dish now carries the Big 4 and PBS and CW in HD for Tulsa.

So, to answer your question, and let your wife know.

IN your area the CW is not in HD, so you will not be able to get it from any provider.

Have her contact the station and ask them when they might be in HD.

My area does not have a CW station as it was turned into a FOX affiliate, and became a sub-channel of our ABC station, and is in HD, when the digital conversion took place in 2009. I do not want to watch it in SD, as I try not to watch SD as I find it hard to watch, otherwise I would get a Superstation
