Questions for the Dish Tech Team?

The PTAT feature might also skew ratings for some networks shows. While it might help a good show that hasn't found it's entire audience it might also keep a crap show on because of inflated numbers. Hopefully dish has a way to report actual watched shows rather than just recorded ones?

PTA will in not affect Nielsen ratings. It's done by diaries and boxes in homes.

The person I replied to did which is why I made the reply that I did.

That is correct, but I was thinking outside the box.Who would have thought the Hopper could record PTAT to begin with?.So going outside the box maybe someday DISH might be able to offer it OTA for better HD PQ.;)

Until that happens if at all I would be content to have dual OTA tuners like the MT2 in the 722k,so with the Hopper that would give me 3SAT+2OTA tuners to choose from.:)

Dish does report DVR numbers, but DVR numbers are based on when watched. Same day (i.e. before 3AM eastern), to event+7days is what counts. If you do not watch a show in the first week it does not get counted. Current ratings are based on live+same day.

i believe you need to watch a DVR event along with the commericals in the first three days or it's not counted. Haven't seen anything about 7 days. Usually 7 days is mentioned for marketing purposes.

And even then, you only directly count if you are one of the select Nielsen households. If you're not actually one of those households, then you're statistically represented within that group.

(Of course my information is from around last summer. Haven't kept up with any changes to the Nielsen system since then.)

Well I have thought about it for awhile and really PTAT is really a great idea,an idea that could result in the replacement of the 2 OTA tuners in the MT2.But that's where it ends because without a dual tuner module connected to the Hopper your really not gaining any extra tuners to record during the Primetime hours, even though it records everything from the big 4 in Primetime, and as we all know alot of new satellite programs also come on during the Primetime hours, but they also repeat those programs alot of times at a later hour in the guide. Now maybe the Hopper is so high tech it would know to record the satellite programs at the later hours in the guide,or maybe just use one tuner for recording and leave one tuner for live viewing, which for my viewing would be the perfect situation.:)

But I do know my 722k/wMT2 is going to be one hard receiver to beat,at least for my viewing preferences.;)

They need to fix OTA guide data regardless of which model one views it on.

But as most of us know, Dish buys that service elsewhere and has no direct control over it's accuracy. Be nice if they put a little pressure out, though.

Sorry in advance if this has already been asked, but can selective PTA content be archived for later viewing? At our house, using a 722, it's not unusual to have 3 to 4 episodes of a series in My Recordings at any given time.

watching that video from CES, the gentlemen shows how you can move any recorded show from PTA to your DVR archive, so yes. My question is will I be able to hook up my current EHD that is connected to my 722k to the hopper without losing any of the recordings already on there? or will it need to be re-formatted?

As most of us know, even though the correct information is available, Dish still shows incorrect data, or no data at all, for many OTA channels.

Even when I Had a digital converter box and an OTA antenna, I had epg information on all ota channels except the sub channels. I do believe. the digital broadcast now carries the epg information embeded in the signal. I could be wrong but how would an old govt issued run of the mill ota box have free epg info?

The EPG data is imbedded in the OTA data by the station and is thusly notoriously non standard... so it is almost unusable for recording purposes, this is why ALL carriers use an outside source for guide data rather than the EPG broadcast by the station.
