Dish Hopper Pricing Rumors Thread

Just keep doing that.... you have little to nothing to worry about. If the Dish audit teams were to call on a weekend you were gone from home, no one would be able to -- or not be able to -- go through the audit.

I have no worries about the audit polizia. I have been thru them twice in the past and the next time will be the last time.

The hopper/joeys would have offered some conveniences that would be nice. I have 2 508's for the kids, I need to replace. Guess I will order a couple of 211's to replace those now. I would have needed 2 hoppers anyway to replicate the 722, 2 508's and 211 I have now.

The RCA - http://www.dish.com/downloads/legal/Residential-Agreement.pdf muddies the waters even more.

For Hopper/Joey the fees are listed as "Receiver Fees" and not "Additional Receiver Fee." In theory they could charge for the first Hopper. Don't want to believe that would really be the case, but I don't see anything in the DHA that would actually rule it out. Hope it's just the attorneys being intentionally obtuse.
Wow. Even after they updated this agreement, they still left some old fees on there. The $5 TV2 connection fee should be gone, the $5 Dish 500 upgrade fee for AK and HI customers they just got rid of last December, and they need to make it clear that the $40 EHD fee only applies to the VIP 211/211k or the old 411.

That's why I'm not that worried about it until we hear more. Hopefully the Hopper/Joey lines were just carelessly added, but if taken at face value we could see a fee for the first Hopper. I can't believe (well almost can't) that would really be the case though.

I agree. I think the people who wrote that agreement obviously didn't do their homework when it comes to that fees section.

Wonder how the PR customers will upgrade? Can I just dial up dirt or take it to a local dealer?

Not to hijack this thread, but when did they get rid of the dish 500 fee for AK?? They are still billing me for that....

If both the 1st Hopper AND 1st Joey are included for free, that would be great. It would actually be a few bucks cheaper than the 722k/211k setup I have now, even with the $4 whole-home fee. But, I have a feeling, that only the 1st Hopper will be free, with each Joey costing $7/mo. including the 1st.

If that's the case then 722k will look very good for people with only 2 tvs

So what's the cheapest way to get this puppy installed? Last time I added a receiver, it was $50 for the service call. Do you save any install costs if you sign up for the protection plan, and if so, how long do you have to keep it?

TIA

Usually it's $95 for a service call without the protection plan or $15 with the plan.

Did you read the first post? or even the thread, maybe? Pricing specifics are still in question, and nothing more has been said about any more details.

I have 1 hdtv that rarely gets used. Wonder if they would do the wiring and I could move 1 of the Joey's to that tv when I want to watch it. If so, I would go 2/2.
