Questions about The Hopper?

Yeah, while it's up to you divide J pool between two separate H.

I see you're ready to pay a lot of money ... The config will cost you hefty, if you'll get all the boxes.

Just keep your present setup until OTA is implemented on the Hopper. It's not as if they are not planning to do it.
Of course, if your current setup is: OTA via a Dish receiver; your suggestion won't work, since as soon as you upgrade to H/J you are losing your OTA.
Unless you mean "do not upgrade anything" until OTA module is out.

Some would call OTA a necessity.

I checked SWMBO's DVR and it is full of Twilight Zones, Star Treks and more from the OTA sub-channels. She has no idea how the OTA system in the house works, but she uses it quite a bit. I think the reason many don't use OTA is that they don't know of the ability, the reasons for utilizing it or that it is an option to be implemented into the current systems. It may just boil down to an awareness issue.

In our house, I'd say OTA is a necessity.

BINGO! That is really the main reason why. Most are not aware of the capabilites. The only people that use their OTA with their Dish setup are the ones we educate about it. Very rarely does a customer figure it out on their own.

OTA is sure nice to have during severe thunderstorms if you loose satellite signal. Several times during the week we record four channels at the same time. OTA is a big plus for me.

New question: Will Hopper HDMI and Component outs will both be "hot" as they are now on the VIPs? Assuming so.

I have about 1 cognizant thought per month. Thanks for being there to witness. :loco::wacko::shh

There is some interplay between the HDMI and Component out on my 622. When the HDMI is being switched on the receiving end, the component out gets "flicked" and sometimes loses signal at the other location.
