It is a love fest all of a sudden. I must say though for me it's not the free stuff (sure helps :D), but more the effort to make it right. Of course this speaks volumes to whether or not amc ever comes back. Either way, Dish has provided me with what I need to continue to enjoy the programming of amc and that is darn respectable. Cheers!
 
I for one an NOT impressed, and hate being forced to leave Dish after more than 10 years. It's a major pain dealing with switching providers, and I really don't appreciate being put into this position. I was a loyal customer, but Dish has really gone to far this time.

In my opinion, a few trinkets and a few bucks off changes nothing. AMC is a major channel, and no longer being offered to DISH customers (at any price) is simply not acceptable.

Well I for one am glad Dish doesn't have your attitude. An increase in price for amc is not worth it at any price.

Note that if you switch, you lose BBCA in HD as D* doesn't have that, nor is there any indication that they will be getting it anytime soon. And while their DVRs perform nearly the same function that E*'s do, they do it slower.

And if you use an external HD for archiving, you lose that ability also.

If I were still with Dish and they made me the offer they are doing, I'd be tickled and irritated at the same time, but it wouldn't be enough to switch. You're only talking 5 original shows you know.
 
Let Dish offer AMC as a "premium" A la carte, sort of thing then... Customers who want the channel can pay for it. I just don't appreciate having a what many/most would consider a mainstream channel being taken away from me. My only recourse unfortunately is to switch providers, and even under the best of circumstances it's a pain to do. New installation, new equipment, sending Dish stuff back, etc, etc.

Me: No, I missed it... I don't get AMC

Co-worker: Who does not get AMC?

Me: Dish customers

If you ask me it's an embrassment

I sympathize with you.That said I hardly call a free Roku Xd and/or $10 off per month trinkets.Is it a pita perhaps but,at least Dish is doing something to show they value their customers.They could have said sorry about your luck see ya later.As long as we are able to watch our favorite shows in hd on our main tv then we are happy with what they offered.

That's too bad that you are seeing you may have to switch. Hard for me to blame you as AMC does not have that same interest. I am happy they are providing the roku and some credit. It will be tough having to wait when mad
Men is back, but I deal with it. Maybe at that point a deal will be done

AMC and most channel owners will NOT allow this under any circumstance - though I am personally for this option. Channel owners would rather have the channel pulled completely. This has happened several times before.

The compensatory perks that Dish is issuing are hardly trinkets. $80 Roku devices for free? $120 in credits? $100 in free premiums? These are not trinkets.

And, yes, it's annoying to lose a channel or channels that show some of your favorite shows. But, they are going the extra mile to compensate customers for this annoyance.

If it means that much to you, then you should switch to a different carrier. DirecTV, Comcast, TW, Cablevision, Verizon FIOS, and ATT U-verse all have very good new customer promotions. But, AMC may be going away on ATT, as well.

The first representative I chatted with was not familiar with the offer and said she could only get me 3 months of free Cinemax. I asked to be transferred to Dish Account Loyalty and was transferred to a rep who asked a few questions and then processed my Roku order and $10 off my bill for 12 months.

I appreciate what Dish is doing to remedy the situation, but I am still disappointed to no longer have AMC available. I would like to think that negotiations are still ongoing, but if that were the case I doubt Dish would be handing out free Roku's to anyone who asks.

All kidding aside, you should check out the competitions' new customer offers in your area. You may be able to keep your favorite channels AND save a bunch of money.

But, if you really like Dish, otherwise. Or, they have other programming you would give up if you swicthed, you may want to ask for a "loyalty" offer. If they can give you the tools to still watch your AMC shows, and pay for it, it is a viable option.

I agree, with the roku offers, it's something I think at least they don't see resolving soon
 
I've been following the thread, but frankly, I wasn't going to miss much. I'm a huge Walking Dead fan and I would hate to miss an episode. However, I receive the programming via "other means". I still have the DVR set to record it, but I rarely watch it there because I like the commercial free version from my Seagate FreeAgent Theater HD+. Additionally, I purchased the Walking Dead Season One Blu-ray when the special edition came out. This is my practice with every thing I obtain from "other means". So, I feel like I've paid the artists for their work.

I, too, received the email from DISH. I figured it would just be a recorded message informing me about iTunes and amazon. However, when I saw folks were getting Roku's, I figured it was worth a call.

So, I called and played dumb. I denied having an XBox 360 or PS3. I told 'em I had wireless broadband internet when they asked. The CSR then described the Roku (which I already knew). He said they're mailing me one (the 1080p XD model). He also said he was giving me a $35 credit.

I have no need for the Roku, so I'll continue to use my FreeAgent Theater. The $35 credit was cool, though. I'm not one of those "what have you done for me lately" folks. I just took 'em up on a free deal and was glad to have heard about it here.
