I hadn't watched my Expressvu TV service for a few weeks and I come to discover last week that I lost it! In reading this forum, it appears that the 91 Satellite footprint moved and I guess I can no longer receive it in Wilmington, Delaware?

I saw on here that someone picked up the 83 satellite in Lancaster, PA. I have a new HD dish but it is not an especially big one. Does anyone think it's worth putting that up and seeing what I get from the HD dish? Or it is hopeless without a 90cm dish? Any opinions?

If the above doesn't work, is Star Choice still an option for my area?

Ron

Delaware is border line for 82W so you can try the 90cm dish.

But yes StarChocie (Shaw Direct) will work fine in Delaware. Their footprint covers down into Mexico

I have an HD dish that is only around 20 inches wide. Is that not worth trying? Since I don't already have a 90 cm dish, would you recommend just switching to Star Choice?

Sparkster:

You have two options:
1) Star Choice/Shaw Direct- their satellite's footprint covers the entire US.
2) If you have a relative or very good friend who resides within the new footprint of Nimiq 91, move your satellite dish and equipment to their residence and attach a slingbox to it. You will then be able to watch Bell Expressvu in your home via computer or tv as long as there is high speed Internet at both residences.

Hi Sparkster and Iceberg; I am in NE Philadelphia...the Winegard 30" which works good on 82 nimiq is only marginal on the nimiq 6-maybe 7 of the 32 tr's lock in...I am going to try to play with it again this coming week-today heavy rain and very hot. I am hoping that the wsi 9036
dish will lock everything in on the 91 deg-any input is always appreciated...

nhlphl,

Please keep me posted on how you make out with 91 nimig, since you live near me. I live about 15 miles south of Philly airport.

But are you also saying, you receive 82 satellite OK with a 30 inch (76 cm) Winegard dish? If that works for you, it might work for me - though I guess I could be 40+ miles south of you depending on where you live in NE Philly. I wonder where I can get a 76cm Winegard dish? And would that mean I could only get the HD channels?

Sorry for the dumb question - I subscribed (without any issues) with Expressvu for the last 10+ years and never had any problems:

If I get a 90CM dish and point it to the 82 satellite (and it works), will I only get the Expressvu HD channels? Or do I somehow get everything? I don't understand this part. I never bothered with HD channels before because I was too lazy to change my dish - but I already have a receiver capable of getting HD channels...

if you subscribe to the HD version you will get them

no. SD channels are on 91W which the footprint doesnt reach your area

looking at the new Bell packages it looks like if you get the HD channel included as long as you pay for the SD version. So you should be able to see the HD channels but hopefully someone can confirm. (when I had Bell HD wasnt really out there) ;)

That's correct. Only 3 main package choices(aside from movies & sports tickets) Good,Better,Best all HD & SD are included in one of these 3 packs.
