bein Sport HD channel request

Thanks for the info Scott, though if I may steal a line from you...thing that make you humm...you expect one day for disney and amc to come back? Hopefully one day!

I think on the Disney side they are going to have to. The contacts will be coming up at sometime and when its time for those renewals the HD will be part of the package. DISH can not afford to lose all of the Disney owned channels they will need to make a deal.

Is there any indication of whether any deal will require paying independently for SD and HD? If so, that would be very bad for future pricing.

ACK! According to the Dish Network website for the Free Preview, beIN sport is in "America's Top 250 and Higher". I'm hoping Latino Dos is considered... umm... "higher".

That is kind of a joke... to have to go up to 250 in order to get a SD channel.

The Latino website is worthless to see if it is in the programming for Latino Dos, seeing that they don't even include Univision Deportes 1 or 2 in the sports listings.

That I dont know. But I do know that both companies will need to make a deal with each other when the contract comes up. (whenever that is)

Probably make sense considering that fsc was part of at250....so beln stays in the same pack. No idea abt latino dos.....but if above logic is followed then it should also have this channel.

A lot more people watched AMC then will ever watch a soccer channel in HD. There is just not an audience for it in HD on DISH. They want a HD channels where a million people are watching at one time, not a channel where less then 10,000 will be watching at any one time.
This is partly because soccer is now being shown on the regular sports channels that people already have - like the local Fox Network channels, FX and ESPN (In fact, for the English Premier League season premiere this Saturday, ESPN has moved the game from ESPN2 to ESPN):
NEW YORK (AP) -- Both Champions League semifinals and the Manchester derby for first place in the Premier League averaged more 1 million television viewers in the U.S. despite weekday afternoon starting times. The four Champions League semifinals averaged 1,033,000 viewers on Fox's English- and Spanish-language networks, up 29 percent from last year, Fox said Wednesday. The second leg between Chelsea and Barcelona on Fox Soccer drew 438,000 viewers on April 24, up 71 percent from last year's second leg between Real Madrid and Barcelona. Viewership on Fox Soccer and Fox Deportes combined for 983,000, up 20 percent. A day later, Bayern Munich's penalty-kicks win over Real drew 627,000 on FX, nearly double the 308,000 for last year's semifinal between Manchester United and Schalke. The combined English and Spanish viewers was 1,236,000 — the largest U.S. Champions League audience other than for a final. Manchester City's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Monday drew 1,033,000 viewers on ESPN, the largest U.S. audience for a Premier League match on cable. The previous high was 610,000 for Arsenal's win over Chelsea on ESPN2 on Dec. 27, 2010.
But you are right that still is less than AMC:
The fifth season premiere, "A Little Kiss", was the most watched-episode of Mad Men of all-time to date, receiving 3.5 million viewers .
and it is certainly true that BeIn's current lineup consists of the less watched soccer leagues.

FSC is part of almost every package above $45, except Top 200. Dos is defiinitely below Top 250 (even Max is). So time will tell about the Latino packages.

Dont forget the bandwidth from the Disney channels that we in HD too.

Thats not a put down on soccer at all, its just more a supply and demand type things.

If AMC and the Disney HD channels come back to DISH (and I do expect them to) then they need the HD bandwidth for those channels.
i hope they do come back and give me FEARnet SD! doesn't matter if it is in HD or not to me

I think it will be on Latino 2... because it is on channel 871 after Univision Deportes.
And Latino 2 has Fox Soccer, and it will be almost the same.

Maybe even it is on Latino Clasico, because Latino Clasico includes all the channels on the 800's and BeIN is right there.

Here is the press release for beIN on DISH. (BTW I am hearing that the deal wasnt done until yesterday afternoon. That would explain all the confusion!)

DISH SIGNS ENGLISH- AND SPANISH-LANGUAGE beIN SPORT NETWORKS;
AFFIRMS LEADERSHIP IN INTERNATIONAL SPORTS PROGRAMMING FOR LATINO AND ALL U.S. SPORTS FANS

24-hour international multi-sport networks available on DISH today Exclusive online beIN SPORT content available to DISH subscribers Third Spanish-language sports channel launched this year on DISH MIAMI, Aug. 16, 2012 – beIN SPORT, the new 24-hour network dedicated to live and exclusive coverage of the world’s best international sports in English and Spanish, today announced it will be carried from its inaugural telecast beginning August 15 on DISH Network, the third-largest pay-TV provider in the nation.

DISH subscribers will have access to beIN SPORT’s exclusive coverage as it kicks off the new fall season’s best soccer matchups, including games from top European leagues such as Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue Un, South American World Cup Qualifiers and Copa America 2015.

“Our association with beIN SPORT makes DISH the undisputed pay-TV leader in Latino sports,” said Dave Shull, DISH senior vice president of programming. “beIN SPORT is bringing together the best games, from the best leagues from around the world onto one channel.”

beIN SPORT is available on DISH’s America’s Top 250 (AT250) in English and on DISHLatino packages as beIN SPORT E, a Spanish-language version. In addition to its linear TV network, select beIN SPORT content will be available on DISHOnline.com exclusively for DISH TV customers.

Maybe I missed it, but does anyone know whatever happened to there being two channels: beIn 1 and beIn 2? I'm not complaining or anything, but I remember very clearly that when they first announced their new endeavor, it was about two new sports channels, not just one. In fact, when they first turned on the streaming feed during the first two weeks of August, I seem to remember a beIn1 feed and a beIn2 feed. But now everything is just about one channel. I can't imagine providers being terribly excited about carrying two beIn channels, so it makes sense to at least START with just one. And now the beIn website is all about just the one channel. So when did this change in strategy and plans occur? Does anyone know?

BTW, I'm thrilled to be watching beIn on Dish right now!

Select beIN content on Dish Online. I would suppose that wouldn't include live coverage of matches.

I have heard that they will have the capability for up to four simultaneous live matches online, and that it would cost $19.99, but that cost seems to be for those who do not have it through Dish/DirecTV. This is needed to cover all the leagues they have signed up, especially since they abandoned the idea of a second channel. If it works as well as ESPN3.com, it would be a significant plus. By the way, the "deal finished yesterday afternoon" does not surprise me, all reports are that they have been making it up as they go along.

FYI - since both are in Free Preview, I checked and... currently, Channel 408 on Dish has the same video as Channel 871, except that 871 has Spanish as the Default audio. Even with spanish as the default audio, it still says "Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson Commentators" on the screen on 871.

I am watcing on 871 and is still in English

An "unreliable source" ;) And since they guys change what they are doing every hour, who knows what they will actually do with it...
Well if it is unreliable, I can guarantee you I can make better, more attractive claims like:

Streaming will be made available through the Dish receiver (722k, 922k, Hopper, that thing gathering dust in the closet that says Primestar on it...) and everyone who gets beIN sports will receive a free pony!

Ah, I needed to choose Alternate Language in Spanish... I had it in English because I don't like movies in Spanish. But I chaged it now and now 871 is in Spanish and 408 in English.

All the commercials and "ID"s are in English, but the matches are in Spanish (I noticed you posted during the commercial break)
