Hello friends. I just had an HR34 upstairs and HD receiver downstairs installed. I'm connected to the internet and the whole home DVR is functional. But I was wondering about the connection. I have a little black deca DCA2SR0-01 adapter connected to my router and the receiver. What's the purpose of that? couldn't I just connect the ethernet cable straight to the DVR? Is that adapter taking the place of the cinema connection kit so I can get Pandora, Youtube etc……? Thanks again and I'm going to donate to satelliteguys.us soon because I have gotten tons of information here. Promise.[h=4][/h]

So I guess my question is what's the purpose of the DCA2SR0-01 adapter when the HR34 has an ethernet port?

It's used so that you don't have to run ethernet to all of the connected receivers/dvrs. If you have only one receiver/dvr then you can simply use the ethernet port.

As you can tell I'm a little ignorant about this stuff and trying to grasp how this works. Could someone explain precisely how the HR24 is connected to the HR34?

In a DECA setup, the internet signal is carried through the coax. You don't need to run cat5 to each receiver/dvr.

OK. Now I'm grasping it a little. The wireless cinema connection kit is used if the router isn't close to the HR34, correct? If true would the deca setup start there and go to the other receivers? Aren't there wifi receivers and/or usb adapters for a wifi signal which could be used for the required internet connection? Is the functionality of the WHDVR achieved by the internet or coax connection?

I'm not very familiar with how the DECA system works, so hopefully someone else will answer your questions.
