Just bought the Kindle Fire for my wife. For the heck of it,I tried viewing my dish prog. with my sling adapter thru the Kindle and it wont recognize the file I downloaded. Does anyone know if the Kindle Fire is even compatible to watch tv everywhere? This will be a make it or break it issue on whether I'll buy a Fire for myself. Thanks for any info!

I did the same and I'm wondering the same thing. I am pretty sure that the Kindle Fire is running Android 2.3, so it's plausible that the DRA app will work.

I'm not sure about the sling with kindle fire.I do know that dishonline will not work properly because widevine cannot be installed. It d/loads but fails to install.I did mention this to maryb and she forwarded a request to dish engineering concerning kindle fire not working with dishonline. However the more complaints/requests they get the more likely they will actually move on the issue.

And yes thekrell you are correct kindle fire does run android 2.3.Its just a very handicapped android 2.3.They can be rooted but I still don't think dishonline will work.

I think the he issue is that DRA is not available in the Amazon Android Marketplace.

If the FIRE supported the regular Android Marketplace you probably would be able to download it.

Just to follow up on this thread.

You can sideload DRA app to the Kindle fire or HD.Works like a charm.

Also was experimenting today and found a way to get dishonline to work. You have to sideload Dolphin browser 8.5.1,then sideload flashplayer 11.1.Turn the browser settings in dolphin to always on (Flash) and boom, you can now watch shows on your kindle fire through dishonline.

Download the app to your computer. Turn the setting on the Kindle to allow apps. Hook Kindle to computer, transfer the app (an APK file) to the Kindle. It will have to be updated the same way when there are updates.

Very good explanation tampa8.

I would add that you need es file explorer which is available in the amazon app store for free.Once you have the .apk file transfer it to your kindle download folder. After that just open es file explorer to and go to the kindle d/load folder. The file can now be installed.

Great instructions. I was able to download ver 1.1 and am having trouble connecting. I would like to get 1.4 but since I don't have any android devices other than the fire, I'm not sure how to get it from google play.

googleplay even with a rooted fire doesn't work so great. You will be better off just doing a web search for the .apk.

This has been a good learning experience, although not sucessful. I can't seem to find a downloadable version of DRA more recent than version 1.1 (which doesn't seem to work). I did install Dolphin and flash, and can get onto dishonline, but it wants me to buy and install sling player software to view shows. The flash plug in is working, but I cant seem to get the recorded (or live) content to stream.
But like I say, it has been a good learning experience.

You have pm.

The dishonline has been kind of hokey the past few days.Do not try to install the sling app it's for the sling player standalone not the usb sling for dish.

Could someone please list the procedure to get my KF to be able to watch my dish channels in another room of the house? I have the sling adapter I have downloaded and installed dolphin browser, and the es explorer file to my kindle...now what? Thanks, I'm not really iliterate computer wise, just this new kindle Fire I have. Thanks!

You need the dish remote access app.It can be found on the web pretty easy and then you can side load it to the kf.

Is google play the only place to download the DRA app? I'll keep looking, I don't own a droid device or i-phone of any sorts, just a cheapo cell phone..LOL! No laptops either, just desktop computers. :(

You've been reported. Expect a little visit from the consumption police. ;)
