I had a dish satellite receiver for sale on Ebay. I had purchased it new and no balance was owed and it was removed from my account. Ebay pulled it for Vero reasons. I emailed the Dish Vero and received this response;

"Hello,
DISH Network has determined the referenced equipment is not approved for reactivation as it is leased, still associated with an active or inactive account, or has a delinquent balance. As a buyer would not be able to use this equipment for its intend purpose, this listing was reported as the fraudulent.
For more information please refer to http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=dishnw."

Notice how it is poorly worded, "for its intend purpose, this listing was reported as the fraudulent."

I called Dish pretending to be a non customer. Gave them the receiver number and they said it was clear to activate. Now I have a mark on Ebay for a fraudulent listing because of the Dish Vero mistake and now Dish has one less customer.

Sounds like another owned receiver mistakenly claimed as leased by DISH. I think Mary was compiling a list, but I don't think she/DIRT can fix the issue. Have to take it up with ER.

Did you include the receiver ID or smart card # ? I just searched "dish network 722k" as a test and looked at the first (6) listed. Only (1) included those numbers.

Leave that information out and Dish can't ID it and claim it's leased. Most people interested will probably ask you for the info too.

What does this mean for the classifieds section here ?
Q: How can I tell if the item I offered to purchase may be reactivated?

A: The only way you can be certain that you are buying legitimate products is to buy from DISH (http://www.dish.com) or from one of its Authorized Retailers.

Can you please send me a PM with your account number and the receiver CA ID number?

I called Dish and they confirmed it was cleared.

Received another response from Dish Vero. They are saying it is still on my account. I had the receiver deactivated a couple of months ago. This is just a bunch of BS!

Hello,
Equipment must be removed from an account before it can be sold, even if there is no balanced attached. Until the item is removed completely from one account, it can’t be reactivated in a new account. You will need to have the equipment taken off your account in order to sell it.

From my experience, if someone calls in with reciever they purchased, the agent can pull up the account, verify the box is purchased and no balance, they they clear it from the old account and add it to the new account.

Obviously, you need to have it completely removed and cleared from your account. Why don't you simply ask them to do that again, just to be sure?

BTW, completely removing it and clearing it from your account is not the same as simply deactivating it. A deactivated receiver is still attached to the account even if it isn't authorized to receive programming, and you aren't paying an additional receiver fee.

take up ZachS's offer to investigate. You're wasting a lot of time by not resolving this with a DIRT member (Dish Internet Response Team)

If you would like for me to do that, please confirm so via an email to me and I'll assist you in taking care of this.
I fixed the email from "Dish Vero" to how it should have read.

My account online didn't have that receiver on my equipment list, only the one that I was using.

Yes but it is still in their system with your name on it, get up with Zach or another DIRT member and have it taken off of your account. :)

Really frustrating to have that happen. At the very least, you should have been emailed to at least give the opportunity to prove that the receiver was no longer on your account.I don't know if the vero is automated or what but,it clearly needs to do a better job.

The system was designed to prevent fraud. That being said they should change it to try to call the owner of record to see if they really listed it, perhaps notifying someone that it was stolen and on Ebay now.
