DISH Price Increase 1/17/2013 (UPDATED!)

Special offers - to help cushion the price increase shock - are now available. When I logged into my account this morning, a window immediately popped up showing the offers that were eluded to in the mailing many of us received this week. If you ignore the "pop-up" window, the offers are still under "My offers" until March 17. My offers are Cinemax, Encore, HBO, Outdoor Sports, Showtime, Starz. I can select any or all, for half off for 6 months. It would be nice if they would offer a $5 credit for the next 6 months as an option to those extra channels.
Yeah, I saw that too. But then I realized even if I took that offer, I still would be saving more by switching providers. So I decided to just switch to Directv.

The offers are decent, but I wish they'd have offered FS+ for half off as well. My problem with premiums is the repetition after a short while.

There is an added irony with the offers.

Dish: Upset that your bill is going up? Well here is an offer to make it go up even more! :)

I got the offers, still never got the letter...Offers would be nice if we wouldn't trying to trim cost of our bills. Having to send more cash after the price increase is not such a bargain, IMO.
Ghpr13:(

Ouch...... A $16 increase before taxes in my case for my AEP, BB@H and a stink'n 622......... I've always had the protection plan and would continue it but not so sure now. As for BB@H, yeah same price but if it wasn't for Velocity and HDNet Movies I would kick that package to the curb.

AEP subs are supposed to get a $10.00 credit for 18 months. It doesn't show in my online bill but Dish assures me that it will be on the actual bill.

if it weren't for this site I would know nothing about the increase. I have yet to get a letter from dish. I have the aep package. I don't see the credit on my on line bill.

I'd rather have the 5 bucks off for 6 months

Pretty good selection on the half off deals for us.All the premiums are offered.Didn't see bb@home or multisport though.Looks like we have until March 17th to take one of the offers.Think Game of Thrones comes back in April so we'll wait a bit.

Oh almost forgot, they also included heartland, outdoor channel, and encore half off deals. No idea why they would include them, they are already in the 250 package, which we have had forever.

Thought that was intresting as well with the offers on heartland and such

what about folks who dont have AT250? Heartland or Outdoor Sports you can add to any package (including Welcome Pack)

You should let them know that you have the 250, so they never offer those channels to anyone, because you have them.

Man does everyone take what I say the wrong way or what?:rolleyes:What I mean is the automated system should be smart enough to realize who has 250 and who doesn't.I would have assumed the offers would differ from account to account.

Same here. I too have HD250 and don't need to be wasting money signing up for half off of something I already have. Anyhow, it's obvious from my lack of Starz (to which I'm already subscribed through an earlier half-off deal) that they do modify the offers, at least a little bit.

Looking at my bill, I see they are giving me the $5 off. But, instead of it showing as a credit, I'm just being billed $5 less for AT200 than the regular price. ($59.99 vs $64.99)
Perhaps your bill hasn't been updated yet. Look in the programming page, where you can select and modify your programming choices. Does it show as 64.99 there?

From what I know, only AT120+ and AEP subs will get an automatic discount, unless you signed up after 3/1/2012.

Okay .. strange..

I was downgraded to the Top 250 with 1/2 off all premiums.
Basically, saving $6.50 over what the new rate is for the next 6 months.

Can't wait to see what my bill looks like.
