Is anyone else getting this deal on the new Hopper?
I don't really plan on using the sling so I don't know if its worth it.
50$ upgrade from the old hopper and a $15 tech fee?
I currently have this:
America's Top 250 74.99
Blockbuster@Home 10.00
DVR Service 10.00
Joey Receiver 7.00
I did accept HBO at half price for 6 months due to the new fee increase.

If it's only $65, that's a pretty good deal.

That's an awesomely good deal. I was told $300 to upgrade and they would knock $100 off. They may be trying to sell you the sling adapter to add to your current hopper?

I asked her specifically about the new model hoper and that's what she said, I saved the chat. She also mentioned the same price for a Joey as well.

I am now wondering if she was confused so I figured I'd ask and see what others are getting on this upgrade.

I Still am not sure if it's worth it if I'm not going to use sling, I'll wait to see what Scott or others say if they compare them.
If the only difference is faster/ smoother channels when changing the guide etc. then I won't care.

I would like to see the apps run smoother and processing the streaming of BB. Those apps could be improved in my opinion.

I just called for an upgrade and got the new hopper for $100. ($100 discount). We use the ipad a lot for long car rides and the ability to put some movies on that did it for me. One question, maybe Scott can answer, I backed up my current hopper using the wizard. I should be able to transfer my settings to the new one, correct?

Yes, they can be transferred back using the wizard or remote manager on the new Hopper.

Just got my Hopper 2 installed. The remote backup worked beautifully. That saved me lots of time. Overall it's working great. Very fast. The only thing that is not 100% is transferring to my ipad. I can select the "prepare for mobile" option on recordings but when I got to the Dish Transfers app and select a recording to transfer I just get a very quick "processing" pop up and it's gone. Then check the transfers page and see nothing. Might just need to wait for the Hopper to sit for a while today but that's the only thing that seems buggy right now.

I would try rebooting the Hopper and maybe delete and reinstall the app. If that doesn't help I would try tomorrow after the first nightly update.

All this talk has me wanting to change of one of my Hoppers, I have sling on one, but for now I am going to stand pat. the features are cool, just not sure i would really use the transfer features alot. One reason is I would have to get the EHD to back up the movies I have :)

Same. I don't like how on the shows/movies with DRM (HBO etc.) it has to delete the original recording, so now you only have an iPad copy. I think I'm just going to sit on my hands to see if pricing comes down. Maybe there will be a good deal on the Internet where I can just purchase the HwS instead of adding another year to my contract. Plus at this rate, what if Dish is now doing like Apple where they release a new receiver every year with only modest updates?

I definitely have the upgrade itch, but I want it to be worthwhile and I'm not so sure that I'll care so much about Hopper Transfers once the novelty wears off. Plus, almost everywhere I go I either have my own WiFi,work WiFi free WiFi, or 3G/4G coverage so Sling Adapter can do the same thing without having to delete any copies of my recordings.

Good part about HBO/Cinemax content? Usually play the same content over and over all month long. So far the DRM/deleting hasn't really caused any issues for me. I've had to set up a couple extra one tie timers but not too bad.

what if i already have the sling adapter and i wanna upgrade? Also what about what i have on my dvr as of now? Timers and recordings.

Back up the timers and settings with the remote if you have a compatible model. Back up your recordings on an external hard drive. Sell your sling adapter if you want but it's not needed and there isn't any trade in process for the sling adapter.

I have two hoppers now so wondering is it worth the upgrade to it? I'm sure next year they will come out with a new hopper.

That's the dilemma that I'm currently going through. I'll probably end up upgrading, when I find the right price.
