Encore Action and Drama are in HD, but, why don't they give us east and west feeds of Encore and The Movie Channel in HD? It's already fed and there is plenty of space on Directv satellites.
It seems that they always discriminate against west coast viewers. Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Ion, HBO Family, Encore, Cartoon Network, Univision and the Move Channel all have east coast feeds offered in HD but none of the west coast feeds are in HD. And I know of no channel that has its west coast feed in HD but not its east coast feed.

There are approximately 227,016,000 people in the Eastern and Central time zones. There are approximately 67,455,000 people in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. There is no "discrimination" involved. The fact of the matter is there is nearly 3 1/2 times the population for which the east feed is intended. Also, since a substantial, if not majority of HD subscribers have a DVR, it is not as big an issue as it would have been say 10 or 15 years ago.

West Coasters have the advantage in seeing the east coast channels 3hrs earlier.. Discrimination?? Nahh haha

Why are you complaining that you get to see programming 3 hours earlier? One reason why I prefer Satellite over cable is that all of the channels are on east coast time. This means I can watch shows before I have to go to bed.

I remember years ago visiting my sister in San Diego. I turned on the tv at 10AM. There was a Padres game on! I thought it must have been a repeat, but they were in Philly playing a 1PM game. It seemed weird, but I could get used to it!

10am is better than waiting until 10pm to see a west coast game on the east coast.

I was curious how that worked since I've never lived on the west coast. I'd figure the east feeds get blacked out during primetime hours in the east if you subbed to a west coast feed, but I guess that's not the case.

I live in LA and for me, I was told it depended on the network. FOX and ABC granted me waivers to get the NYC channels, but NBC, CBS, and CW wouldn't.

when i was stationed in san diego, it was always strange to watch monday night football at 6pm. that's when it started at 9 on the east coast.
