Echostar 16 at 61.5W

I believe them when they say the Superbowl is a reason to delay. I suspect they are still working a lot at the centers prepping for the next round of switch overs.

I have not dug through it but am guessing they are probably also consolidating their uplink centers in the change over. The old EchoStar 12 (Rainbow) uplink "receive" antennas were fixed to specific " non EchoStar" geographical locations.

That was one of the hindrances with E12. The other issue they face if they need to use E12 again they are going to have to reroute all these signals to different uplinks again.

I remember from the filings the E16 uplinks are the standard 6: Cheyenne/Gilbert/Spokane/Monee/New Braunfels/Mt. Jackson. As I said before, mine appears to be changing. I do think, though, that part of their reason for rotating the bird was to align with existing Echostar uplinks, as I think they were able to use Monee, New Braunfels, and Mt Jackson for E12. But as I recall, they had to use 7 or 8 other uplinks to use all the E12 spots, as switching those probably has complications.

E12 was pretty much designed to be uplinked under the area of the corresponding spot beam. I believe Dish limited capacity by uplinking under every other spot or so.

I don't think Pittsburgh will be on ConUS or any remaining on 61.5 in the coming weeks. They are a few markets left at 77W but who knows how long that will last.

Thats sad to know. I don't care which locals I get but some locals are needed. Willmiss my pitts. I'll have to scrape the last of the conus locals tomake my setup work. Now it would be best if they moved LA Locals to 61.5 aswell but I highly doubt that. Thanks for the info.

No one knows what will happen with the conus locals on 77W...they may stay there indefinitely.

Where is the Move. Are these moves to a Spot beam for HD Pittsburgh or will they remain CONUS. Will there be any ConUS on 61.5 remaining?
These are the cities that are currently on spots on E12 that will be moved to spots on the new E16 satellite. Right now, it looks like E* is just moving over current markets from E12 to E16. I'm sure that Scott will keep us informed as to when any moves from 77 to 61.5 will occur.

Given E16's capacity and spot coverage they probably will not need any locals on 77.
Makes sense as 77 can only be added with 61.5 in place. Are there lots of folks that cannot get 61.5 but can get 77? For me in LA 61.5 is harder to catch than 72.7 or 77. Will 61.5 have any LA spots? Since its an eastern arc, I highly doubt. I'll switch to cities on 77 until the last one goes.

I doubt dish will abandon 77 all together., they just acquired that sat few years back. It would make perfect sense to mirror international programming on 77 so people could go with a single dish setup vs having two dishes specially in apartments.
