The PQ on some of my local channels has been less than desirable lately. I watched the halftime on the stupidbowl. My locals are in HD, but the PQ was sd-ish.

Superstations or distants?

Superstations are KWGN Denver, KTLA LA, WPIX NY, WWOR NY and WSBK Boston and are CW or My affiliates. Yes you can get them but they are in SD
Distants are NY or LA versions of the big 4 nets (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX)...only folks who can get those are RV'ers or semi-drivers who submit the proper paperwork and provide registration of said vehicle

You can try an ouside antenna to see if your reception is better. If you have a Dish HD receiver hooked up properly to an HD TV, your picture should have looked great. Your ID says you are in the US, but what locals are you receiving.

Either way, he knows the answer. Just wanted to say how bad he thinks something is....... (imo)

The PQ on the Superstations will look a bit grainy if you watch them on an HD set. They'll look better if you watch them through Dish Anywhere. And as has been mentioned, they're only available outside of their native markets in SD.

Not completely true. If you are in a "can't receive local stations" zone, you can also get the distant networks with a waiver. That is my case. It took me awhile to convince one of the local network affiliates, but I did manage to get waivers for all of them. I do have an RV, but didn't use that to get the distants.

You referring to AAD,or some other HD distants?

Not from Dish. If Dish does not carry a local it's possible they will use one from close by. But they do not give you locals outside your DMA if they provide your DMA locals.

I do have to make a comment here about PQ of the halftime show last night. They did "something" to the video to make it look more like "film" at halftime. Not sure if they changed the resolution or frame-rate or what. But it was different from the rest of the game. It may have made it look "grainy" or lower resolution to some. I thought it looked great via Dish Locals, OTA and Cable (had all three going in my house last night)

I too thought Dish dropped distants to RV's now that it's mentioned. And thought people were notified to contact AAD...
