I'm looking at taking a home away from home Shaw Direct system (dish and 2 receivers) to my home in Gilbert Arizona. I currently have Cox cable that I'd like to dump.
Anything in particular I should watch for. Where might I find an installer in that area if I have trouble doing it myself? Also, where would I find the coordinates to aim the dish?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

You can call Shaw when you get here and they will tell you where to aim,I do know its straight south my sister is a few site's down from us and they have it in there fifthwheel. We are in ApacheJunction az in a park I will add that I don't miss the expressvu that we had down here for years Direct is giving us all the tv we want.

Elevation: 51.2
Azimuth (True): 178.8
Azimuth (Magnetic): 168.0
Skew: 89 (1 degree counterclockwise from the horizontal when standing behind the dish.)

I have a few neighbors who are successfully using the 60e dish, but if you want a more stable signal during what little rain we get, try to get the larger 75e dish.

I'm on the opposite side of the Valley from Gilbert, so I can't help you with a local installer. I know of one in the Peoria area, and I'm sure for the right money they'd come over to Gilbert. If you want their name, send me a PM.

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for the Shaw coordinates for Sun City West for my Canadian neighbor. What we have found online so far hasn't worked but all are older posts. Also, I went to the Shaw website and followed the line to dishpointer.com but it does not list the ANIK (?) satellite that is supposed to be the one we need. Any help appreciated.

Shaw Direct uses satellites at 107.3W (Anik F1R and Anik G1) and 111.1W (Anik G2). If you select the Starchoice multi-LNB setup (five from the bottom of the list) on dishpointer.com, that's what you'll get.

If I recall correctly, Shaw is in transition on their HD channels so MPEG4 capable receivers will be required for HD channel viewing.

:welcome to Satelliteguys cruisedirector!

For future reference, you will likely get better results starting a new thread with a topic specific to your question.

My post above should still be correct and close enough for Sun City West. The Dishpointer coordinates cited above, along with the graphic, should also be close enough to get you started receiving at least some signal. I assume you are using a Shaw dish (60e or 75e) with an xKu LNB (?).

You will not get a signal from the Anki G1 at your location, but Anik F1R and F2 will be fine.
