COZI TV on AMC 1 @ 103W

I've used a standard DRO single ku lnb, a SatAv PLL single lnb, and then back to the SatAv dual mini lnb on my Prodelin 1.2m dish for Cozi, and there's very little difference between all of them for me on Cozi. I stayed with the dual because I need a dual for my switch. I couldn't keep Cozi locked 100% of the time until I went to the 1.2m dish though, even with the PLL lnb. The fixed 1.2m dish makes all the difference.

IF you are using a 39 inch dish, I would say the PLL would be your best bet, it will hold the signal longer. I do NOT recommend using a PLL lnb when first tuning in a dish though. It'll hold the signal too well, and too long, and you might not easily find the exact sweet-spot where the dish should be aimed.
 
My remark refers to 3 non PLL LNBs that I have in my inventory that I have tried. I have not tried the Invacom, perhaps I should to see how it compares.

I'd like to see a comparison. I've always been too cheap to buy a QPH-031 despite the reputation. If it outperforms the Avenger it might be worth the investment.

My Invacom cost me $60. The Avenger was only $12. Is it fair to compare them? The PLL really shines with small dishes and marginal signals. With a larger dish it may not make much difference.

I'll be surprised if the Invacom noticeably outperforms the avenger on any dish, but would like to know for sure.

qph-031 would be a waste of a great LNB for a fixed dish set up. if you have an easy way to move skew from inside the house, go for it.

You've talked about NBC and LNBs... but...you guys never answered my previous questions about this channel...on air day only?... the skew randomly changes? TP randomly changes? How did I come up with those questions??? I read the whole thread... super confused now...I'm just trying to figure out why I can't get this channel. Lots of conflicting info in this thread

Cozy is on the air 24 hours a day, some members lose signal during the day due to increased digital noise. The skew is still off 20 degrees, and will be until they replace the satellite.
 
Maybe its the heavy overcast but at the moment neither the Avenger nor the QPH-031 is locking onto COZI. Both are behaving in a similar fashion, the signal is fluxing between Q 37-56. Not enough steady signal for a lock.
The LNB skew is set to ZERO per motorised dish spec.

My other 3 non PLL LNBs no signal at all on COZI.

Checked out Montana PBS on 125w. Both LNBs locked with a Q 15.

Will try again when conditions improve.

It's an DVB-S2 8psk signal so needs a LOT to get it and keep it locked. My MicroHD needs 70 minimum to keep it watchable. I installed a fixed 1.2m dish to get 74 consistently.

Yes the problem is at my end since the dish is only 31". I may move up to a 39" in the spring. The weather is not one for working outside. But it would appear that the QPH-031 and the Avenger LNB are comparable in performance at least at my end.
 
Just went out and retested the QPH-031 and Avenger PLL LNBs on COZI TV. Both are neck and neck at the moment. Again the LNB skews are at 0º and Q is fluxing between 56-70 on both. Your milage may vary.

Because the skew is off by 20 degrees - a motorized dish that is set to ZERO will not have the correct skew for 103W. I have a fixed/dedicated 1.2 meter dish JUST for 103W. When they replace the satellite - I will be able to use my motorized dish.

You are absolutely correct, however for whatever reason the PLL LNB and the QPH-031 LNB are able to receive the oddball skew.

The original point of this post is that recently cozi has been receivable without adjusting for 20 degree offset. I get it consistently now on my motorized sadoun with normal skew. Not sure if they boosted the power or what. but I wasn't able to receive it without adjustment till a few weeks ago.

Yup. That was my original question when I started this thread. Did something change? Though as I have noted my non PLL LNBs do not receive COZI unless I skew them to the oddball value. The PLL and 031 LNBs work OK.
 
I have a dedicated dish with the unusual skew for COZI. My BUD won't see it with normal skew. Lately however it has been seeing it just fine at times. So I would say SES 3 is finally being turned on tested and getting ready to use.

I posed the question about SES 3 testing,on another forum, and I received a terse response from some know it all that this was not possible.
 
I don't think its ses3 but maybe something they are doing with amc1 to ease the transition for the stations that use it so they can start preparing for the changeover.
 
I was never able to keep COZI locked until I installed a 1M Channel Master on 103W for a recurring feed. Now I get COZI at 70-75 quality with a bandstacked Dish FSS LNB from a Superdish bolted to the original CM feedhorn. These are not known as the most sensitive LNBs out there. I also receive all NBC feeds at 70-75Q (microHD) and the feed I put the dish up for at the same quality. Everything stays locked and steady. Big dishes are the answer to 103W woes...
