Hopper 2K S424 Joey S363 SW Update

My Hooper 2k is becoming unresponsive quite frequently. Even before the software update. I also agree it is worse when PTAT is recording and the Joey is being used. It seems like I am having to reboot nightly or every other night. I called Dish and they immediately offered to replace the Hooper. I may do that if I can get the DVR stuff watched or transferred.

Ptat and Joey might be what is happening with my hopper. I will find out tonight as ptat will be turned off. A reboot does make it usable.

I may have just ran into a bug with the Joey S363 software. My cousin was trying to find one of his shows on one of the Joeys and it wasn't listed. This Joey is linked to Hopper #2. We restarted the Joey two or three times and still we were not able to get the TV show to populate on the list of recorded events. Well from Hopper #1 I can clearly see the missing show listed when I view it from Hopper #2 list. I'm going to check my other Joeys out and see if it lists the program.

Edit: I just checked the other Joey and they are listed.

Mine gets so unresponsive that it requires a reboot. My wife watches all day with no problems and when I watch it at night I want to take a hammer to it. It took 4 minutes to start responding and that lasted about 3minutes and had to reboot. I lost some of the recordings. Posted Via The FREE SatelliteGuys Reader App!

Same crap here, I was ready to throw the remote at the tv.

I wonder if the hws is being slowed like this, might have to upgrade if not cause mine gets slower all the time.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Turning off HDMI-CEC and rebooting seems to have helped. Still seeing some minor odd behavior, like shows appearing to be 100% watched that have just been recorded and not watched at all. Also, I don't seem to be able to edit some timers which I have had for a long time. To change them, I had to delete them and create new ones.

It most likely is as they no doubt share a large amount of code. Difference being the HWS is more powerful so a slowdown won't be as noticeable, but it's still there.

I figured as much, still might be worth it because noticability is what matters most.

My Hopper got the update around Thursday and multiple times, it's gotten completely non-responsive to remote commands. Each time, I left it alone and walked away.... The last time it did it, my daughter pulled the batteries, put them back, and it immediately acted better. What happened to the "low battery" warning that usually happens on-screen ? I can also tell when the batteries are running low by how bright/dim the "SAT" button/light is.

424 seems very sluggish compared to whatever I was running before. Also, after finishing playback of a recording, Live TV takes a long time to display.

You are not alone, I notice the same.

I was using the Hopper last evening around 7:30 and everything was fine. Right around 8pm -- when PTAT kicked in -- it went to hell. Locked up hard and eventually rebooted itself. In fact, I've noticed at least (3) evenings where it's rebooted during PTAT (based on broken recordings). Key issue is my receiver didn't get the update until last Thursday. 50% of the nights PTAT has ran, it's rebooted.

Since the update my once rock solid Hopper 2k is a mess. Almost nightly freezes and reboots always during prime time. You can tell when it is going to happen, remote gets very sluggish takes 5 seconds or more to execute anything. Then small picture in upper left the rest blank screen and freeze then reboot. i don't know if it is the update or my hopper crapping out.

Since this update I've noticed that the Sirius music ch. 99 is showing up in the guide even if it is set to HD only. Previously you had to switch the guide to my channels or all channels to see it. We don't listen to the Sirius channels that much but I like not having to change the guide from HD only to find them. My guess is that customers were calling in because they couldn't find the channels so they now show up in all guides.

Yeah, this is getting really bad. One of the big reasons I am on Dish is the software was so much better than TWC. S424 is not a good example of that. Let's hope for some fixes soon.

I think that auto hop is causing some of the problems. Will have to try again tonight and see if I can get thru with out a reboot.

It didn't fix the CC problem. It doesn't always start up. I have to hit the red button and cancel sometimes and then it works.
I found that pause/play or skip back would do the trick.

I also noticed a change in the CC font after the last SW update. I had to go in to Settings, and change it back to non-serif from "provider".
