UK Game Seller leaks details of a new Batman game. By the blessing of God it appears that Rocksteady is at the helm once again, and details seem to point to Scarecrow being the main villain, and the Batmobile is on the cover. Hopefully this will wash out the taste of mediocrity that was Arkham (Not) Origins..

Update: Game confirmed by Game Informer, 4 minute video here (although it appears to just be pre-rendered stuff, or at least nothing that is done by the player.) Interesting to note that this is for Current Gen (and by "Current" I mean PS4/One) and PC Gaming Master Race members. 360 and PS3 owners get to pound sand.

I still haven't finished Arkham Origins yet. Actually I barely started it. The night I tried to get into it was the day we decided to try out Aliens: CM co-op. I haven't really tried to get back into it yet but I either need to finish it or just run through Arkham City GOTY Edition on PC sometime soon.

Probably better off just doing AC. It should be noted that this new game appears to completely ignore the Origins storyline, and is meant to be an ending to the Asylum/City story arc (although I wasn't aware there really was one as nothing really seems to connect the two games if memory serves.)

This is going to be the case with more and more games going forward. The 360/PS3 is going to start getting shoddy ports or nothing at all. I think it's too much to ask developers to crank out 5 versions of every game and that's if they don't include Wii U and handheld versions. Throw those in and we are potentially talking about building your game for 8 platforms. Eventually they have to start focusing their efforts and their budget on the current platforms and let the last generation fade away.

I realize 360/PS3 still has a much larger install base but the PS4 and Xbox One are both selling faster than their predecessors did so it looks like the market will be healthy going forward. Eventually the hardcore gamers, who buy the most games anyways, will either move from their old consoles to the new ones or a PC.

I wonder how many of the 80 million or so consoles the 360 and PS3 each sold are still actively being used. I know I'm still using my PS3 quite a bit for my backlog of games and free PS Plus games but I haven't bought anything new for it since The Last of Us on June 14th. I guess that's not a totally fair statement because I have rented games like GTA V from Gamefly since then and I would have played games like Saints Row 4 on it if I didn't have a PC. I sold my launch day 20GB 360 right after I beat Gears of War Judgement last spring because there were no more exclusives coming. The disk drive was failing and GameStop was doing a double credit deal for console trade-ins at the time so I packed it up and said goodbye.

My point is that I bet a decent percentage of those 80 million units PS3 and 360 each sold went to very light gamers who have been mostly using them for media boxes for the last couple years. I know my Live friends list is full of people watching Netflix every night on their 360.

I'm not terribly surprised that the PS3 and 360 aren't getting a release, but it is a little surprising with such a big property like this. You'd figure they'd try to get the biggest install base possible, but on the other hand it is good for them to focus on just 3, not to mention the 3 have the same system architecture. Like I said, I'm not negatively affected, as I am a proud member of the PCGMR (and I don't see myself getting a new console for quite a while.) I'll just be happy when they show some real gameplay footage. After all, the early footage from Origins was pretty sweet to. Speaking of, I have been playing Arkham Asylum again recently, thoroughly enjoying it once more. God bless WB for doing that humble sale (Speaking of, there's a new one of those today, this time another mobile bundle.)

That and the Deep Silver Humble Bundles are probably my favorite ones they have done so far. The EA bundle was really good too. The WB bundle got me Arkham Asylum GOTY and Arkham City GOTY as well as the DLC for Arkham Origins. I hope more big publishers like Ubisoft and 2K keep stepping up to the plate. I have gotten some very good indie Humble Bundles too but these mobile bundles do nothing for me. I will almost never launch a game on my smartphone or tablet. It's just not my thing.

The mobile ones can vary. I've got quite a few of them but I probably haven't even launched 10% of the games I got. However, if you have a problem getting a game to run, you're basically SOL. I had issues getting Broken Sword to run on my Skyrocket (wouldn't even install). I posted a thread about it on the developer's website. I subscribed to it back and like 7 months later I'm still getting update emails on that thread because people are still having issues. Eventually I got it to run on my S4, but after I got it to run I decided I didn't really like it. Playing an old school adventure game on a 5" screen isn't as convenient as it sounds. Still, 6 mobile games for < $4 is pretty good, but if you don't play the games there's no point in buying them

According to a Gamestop ad the game is due to arrive 10/14.

I really like this franchise but I hope they leave any future games to Rocksteady. I haven't played enough of Arkham Origins yet to form an opinion of WB Montreal's effort but I don't want this to turn into a yearly franchise like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty. I mean Arkham Origins came out 10/24/13 so this is actually a couple weeks short of a full year. If Rocksteady's next installment was less than a year from completion it really makes me think that letting someone else work on Arkham Origins was an unnecessary risk/cash in. In other words, I don't want to see another Arkham game next October.

Well they may make more Batman games, but according to Rocksteady this is the last of the Arkham story (Whatever that means.) I just hope they change it up enough so that it feels new and fresh. Yeah it's cool you can use the Batmobile (Although I prefer Tim Burton's Batmobile to the Dark Knight crazy hybrid vehicle they decided to emulate) but if this is just a rehash of AA and AC I'm going to be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, those were 2 great games, but a third one would really wear thin for me.

Since the new consoles launched it seems like more games are being delayed than not. Oh well, there will be more new games I want to play this Fall than I have time for anyways. Summer always seems to be a dry spell and that's when I have the most time to play. I don't mind a few big games getting pushed from the overcrowded Fall window to Spring/Summer.
