Les Moonves Calls Dish-Disney Deal “A Great Start” But “Not Enough For Us http://tv.yahoo.com/news/les-moonves-calls-dish-disney-deal-great-start-213842072.html

Oh yay, Dish's contract with CBS is up at the end of the year! More drama to look forward to. Too bad Les Moonves is a greedy a$$hat. I know it's early, but I predict a dispute over CBS programming. I just can't see Charlie and Les playing nice for months while a contract is hashed out (like happened with Disney).

Aside from OaO locals (including CBS and CW here in SF), that would include the Showtime suite of channels, CBS Sports and TVGuide channel.

Not enough for Les,bet Fox says the same thing, and who knows what Comcast will say.Bet our bills go up $10 next year, and autohop is placed on a 7 day waiting period.

So it looks like cbs is next (end of the year)...I wonder what deals need to be re done after that ???

I'm just not sure why dish would not get all the hd channels available from disney...Surely that had to be a stipulation no ???

Humm...what can we call les Moonves :D

You know, while Dish and Disney had major issues in the past, during this last contract talk when was the last time a programmer kept the programming on past contract time. Yes there would have been major issues for Disney if they pulled, but they didn't thus both companies negotiated something it looks like cbs is not open to doing yet. But wait what will we all do if TV guide is pulled!

Now that a deal has been done and while we are awaiting the new HD and other stuff, time to reflect on this thread, what was your favorite moment?

Mine has to be logo or no logo, that is the question!

Yeah, that was amusing. My least favorite was learning that Dish semi-caved on auto-hop. :( One has to wonder why they bothered developing auto-hop at all if they planned to make it this useless from the beginning.

Yeah the three day thing is kind of a bummer, I think by the time I watch it will be past the three day window

I mean who really cares about Autohop, I don't cause you can just press a button and do it from then on anyway. And if you think about it I feel this was by design to get what they wanted in the long run. You basically design and build a car that can drive 200mph but then only sell it in a country that has a 75mph speed limit. lol

Anyway where are the HD CHANNELS!??!?!? COME ON BABY!! ESPNU HD

Well,I won't be taking my hopper to the drag strip then!:D

It will be awesome if they put the WatchESPN app on the hopper - far too many times have I been only able to use that streaming method to watch something but to be able to do that and put it right on the TV in pretty HD would be sweet.

Thanks for your work on this. Is it just me or did this whole event seem a little . . . . sloppy? For a press release 6 months in the making, for them to not know some of the basic details (DXD in HD) seems a little amateurish. Not to mention zero answers on timing of any of this.

I think it just show how few people were involved with the negotiations. The contract of course would continue to be secret from almost everyone in both Dish and Disney. The few in the know will let out details as they think they are needed, these contracts are very competitive, Dish would not want other cable/DBS operators knowing any of the terms, or what moves Dish might make. Disney of course wants to be sure they can extract as much as possible out of negotiations with other companies, they do not want these terms out.
