Channel Unrequest Thread - The Animal Planet

The Animal Planet - I would like to request that during the next negotiations for this channel that Dish drop it. Their recent fake documentaries on mermaids is enough to make anyone interested in educational programming to throw an outrageous fit.

If it isn't possible to immediately drop the channel, I would like the alternative to perform an inversed a la carte on the channel... removing it from my subscription. Any money going to pay for that filth is robbery.

I occasionally watch this channel. Is there someone forcing you to watch? You need to setup your favorites list and then you won't accidentally stumble on this channel.

Not possible. Discovery Networks require ALL or NONE to be carried. CBand HITS2Home had to get a waiver.

I think that they should have more clearly labeled it as science fiction but I would be displeased if I lost access to the channel completely.

Did you miss the outrageous dragon show? Or was that on another so called education channel?

Hear hear. And my favorite almost worthless channel: SyFy that shows TV wrestling. Give me a break! We really need a la carte, which IMHO will only come through legislation.

yep. and the reality show take over is amazing. stinks!! it's really sad to see what has happened to quality programming. techtv was great.... just like history, tlc, natgeo, etc.... used to be.

I hate reality programming. It is extremely stupid. But I accept that some people like it and just ignore that it exists. What Animal Planet and other Discovery channels are starting to do is promote fictional documentaries as fact. This crosses a line into fraud. I can't really take a chance at sitting down and watching documentaries on Discovery owned channels, especially Animal Planet, because I won't actually know if it is fake or not until I've wasted too much time. That is a problem!

And why Dish should cut the channel loose. There is garbage and then there is fraud.
