Red Sox manager John Farrell announced Friday morning that Grady Sizemore will be the team's Opening Day center fielder.

JBJ must be thrilled to be going back to Pawtucket.

I'll set the O/U at 50 games for Sizemore. I hope he does well but he has not played a game in over 2 years.

I hear ya, but with the fact that he's healthy right now and his numbers are a lot better than JBJ's this spring, it would be hard for Farrell to do otherwise...

I'm taking the over. I really have nothing to base that on, but I'm getting good vibes about him. I'll say 110.

At his size though he seems to be prone to nagging injuries. He plays through them, but still.

Speaking of injuries ...
There was speculation today of those thinking that Verlander pitched most of last year with a hernia, thus his up and down year.

He hasn't said that, but others are.

With the way he's pitching in the spring .... ya never know.

That would mean he and Cabrera both played thru very difficult injuries last year.

I'm surprised they didn't just lock him in to a mega deal like Cabrera's right now. Trout is young enough that he would still be near his prime at the end of a 10 year deal.

On the other hand, he may have been the one who wanted to limit it to 6 years. He will be 28 at the end of that contract and still have one more huge contract left in him. By the end of that deal players might be going for even more than they are now too.

Watched the Jays - Mets game last night. Expos still remain in my heart - it was so nice to see baseball back in Montreal.

That's exactly it. Smart deal on both ends. Three years of arbitration and three free agency years. As you said, plenty of time for a megadeal later on....

are you going to the jays/mets games in montreal tomorrow and/or saturday?
i know the games are on mlb net so wonder if there will be any "loria sucks" signs :)

Had tickets, but am sick in bed. I really regret not seeing the 94 team. From what I heard "let's go expos " rang throughout the games....along with the occasional " loria sucks". Personally am glad the fans had enough class by not ruining the night by giving that clown too much attention.

Five months ago tonight the Red Sox won the World Series, and tomorrow in Baltimore they start their quest for back to back championships.

GO RED SOX!!!!

I watched both games closely and the Lets Go Expos chants were loud and often. The clown got very little attention. :)

Sorry Bill, but St. Louis is not allowed to beat the Tigers in another series ....

I like most of your picks, but I don't see the Rangers winning the AL West (then again, ya never know, don't see LAA winning it either), or the Giants making the playoffs.

Ps, I still hate the extra WC team getting in and making it a one game crap shoot to get in to the next round, makes the 1st WC team sesson look like it was useless if they happen to lose that game.

Also, if Selig has his way, the WS will end on Thanksgiving day.

Heres praying that Dave Dombrowski is NOT the next Commish.
