Hi all, I got a city code violation notice and had to take down my 10 foot mesh dish. Makes me sad to think of scrapping it. Would much rather give it to a Sat Guys member and have it used and enjoyed. The dish is complete and was fully operational last week. Has been disabled for easy transport. Located in the Orlando area. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Will try and get some pictures up tonight.

Scan and post it, the code violation notice, would like to see/read it. (Edit out any personal data - MSPaint or Irfanview or image editor of your choice - save/upload as jpeg)
When was it put up originally > IE_Before or after the ordinance? IF before it should have been grandfathered.

Yep if it was before the ordinance they cannot enforce it, in most cases.

Here is a picture of the dish sections ready for transport.

well Delta_Charlie2
I applaud your effort on at least trying to pass the bud onto another .. I hope someone who can use the dish gets it .. but i would seriously think about getting that letter for city code violation notice and file for a waiver or appeal . It would seem to me that any city would and should turn a blind eye or worry about other eye sores than a small one like a bud ... look at the many other cities around the US just fighting to stay alive with all the urban decay going on.

Please don't get me going on pool screen encloses, why are they permitted but large satellite dishes are not?

Anyhow as it turns out my city will allow a large dish if a permit is applied for. The problem is it must be mounted low and not be visible from the public road. The only way to do this from my lot would restrict LOS to about 90 to 120 west. Considering the big dish spent most of the time at 58W this would not enough to make me want to go to the effort.

What a bunch of bull(the ordinance that is)....but glad you are at least passing it along for free to someone who can use it. :) I hope the person that gets it, puts it back up and continues to use it for FTA use and not a few dollars in scrap.

I got my login sorted out, please PM me at delta_charlie if interested. Will not be checking delta_charile2. Just listed it on dregslist http://orlando.craigslist.org/ele/4605532252.html Will give it until the end of the month otherwise I will have to load it up and take it to the scrap yard.

Wish someone would go get this dish.
I was ready to go today, but couldn't resolve the logistics of it.
He's getting frustrated and is ready to take it to the scrap yard.

I guess the bottom line is nobody wanted it enough to go to much effort to pick it up. When I think back on how much effort it took to get the dish 6 years ago - it was 25 feet up in the air, rented 4 levels of scaffolding, complete disassemble up in the air. I could not get anyone to come over and load the dish up. Oh well, it's loaded in my pickup and is headed to the scrap yard.

Sorry Charlie..lol!! (couldn't resist)

Anyway, I am truly sorry, wish we were closer, I'd have made as many trips as it took. And, wish I was younger and my wife was healthier, I would have done it. Even if I never used the dish, just to save it from the scrap yard!!
Hell to get old and disabled!
