2014 MLB Season

The Rays are pretty hot too. 11-1 in their last 12 games.

Heres Hoping that the Tigers go out and get Jon Lester, seeing he's available.
Thats insurance for if/when Scherzer leaves.

Lester is also a free agent after the season. He and Scherzer will probably command similar contracts.

Terrible trade and extremely one sided. Boston got a steal. Unless one wins 15+ wins for the next 3 years and the other is in the top 5 MVP voting for the next 3 years... the A's got robbed. Nice job Red Sox.

I visited the Red Sox Forum & looking at the posts, you'd think the Red Sox were the ones who got screwed in this deal. They're complaining about Cespedes' low batting average & he "only has 17 home runs." Seriously?

Jon Lester helped the Red Sox win two championships and more importantly kicked cancer's ass!! I wish him nothing but the best, and I am now officially rooting for the A's to win it all! That being said, I LOVE this deal for the Red Sox!! They got their much needed RH power bat, and have the resources to sign a David Price or even better, re-sign Lester this offseason.

I'm hearing way more positive, but I have also heard a few people calling out Cespedes' BA and OBP. What they have to keep in mind is the vast difference in dimensions between Fenway and the Coliseum. A lot of foul balls that are outs at the Coliseum are easily out of play at Fenway. That's bound to help both stats.

What do you think of my bold prediction that the Red Sox will be back in the World Series next season, besides wishful thinking?

A’s trade Tommy Milone to Twins for Sam Fuld
Tommy Milone was the odd man out in the A’s rotation before today, so there was really no place for him in Oakland following the Jon Lester trade. And now the 27-year-old left-hander is headed to Minnesota is a deal that brings 32-year-old outfielder Sam Fuld back to Oakland.
Fuld has had a very nice season for the Twins, hitting .274 with a .370 on-base percentage and 12 steals in 53 games, but he’s a career .240 hitter with a .323 OBP and Minnesota claimed him off waivers from Oakland in April. In other words, three months ago the A’s didn’t even think Fuld was worth a roster spot. He’s a solid fourth outfielder who can get on base a little bit with good speed and plus defense, but mostly this move speaks to how little the A’s now think of Milone and how worried they are about center field with Coco Crisp and Craig Gentry hurting.
Milone’s numbers with the A’s have been solid, including a 3.84 ERA in 443 innings, but a good defense and a pitcher-friendly ballpark have made him look better than he actually is. He’s a soft-tossing southpaw with a career strikeout rate of 6.5 per nine innings–which certainly fits the Twins’ preferred pitching mold–but he’s closer to a fourth or fifth starter than a mid-rotation guy. Still, to get a useful 27-year-old starting pitcher for a 32-year-old outfielder you claimed off waivers a few months ago is a no-brainer move for Minnesota. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...wins-for-sam-fuld/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs
