h24 and 1 mirror question

I am fine with it being the same programming. I can set the channel I want on the h24 and watch that on whatever receiver is in the bedroom. I'm thinking an h25.
I would NOT recommend upgrading your receiver. The H25 is arguably a lesser receiver as it lacks component outputs and wireless remote capability out of the box. Wireless remote is an imperative in this situation.

Component and wireless remote can be added to the H25 but what's the point if you already have both?

The H25 is so small it can be installed behind a wall hung tv, and important feature for some. Since you don't have Directv, you might not know that. Also, you claim a wireless remote is imperative. First off, it can be added, and second, you don't know it's imperative. You might suspect it, you might (!) even be correct about it, but you don't know it.

That's interesting, so the unit has it's own internal HDMI splitter.....

Then again, since the H24 is already in place and serving a remote room is silly with an IR remote, you're probably all wet. I suspect you'll find little support for the assertion that only a DIRECTV subscriber could possibly appreciate a small receiver.

As I pointed out, the H25 is not a miniaturized H24 -- it is more pieces and parts offering less functionality out-of-the-box and replacing the H24 with one would put the TS into an extended commitment situation.

FUD. I mentioned the H25 size since you appeared to discount it as an advantage. As to the remote issue, I said you might be right and even offered alternatives, but since you are so often wrong about Directv specifics, who knows.

I made no gesture towards dismissing its size. I dismissed its lack of certain features and flexibility compared to the H24 as well as its increased piece count. There's no fear, uncertainty nor doubt in that.

For those that know, it's one of the clear advantages of the H25 over the other receivers. Weren't you aware of that?

Why would you ask me? You should be asking aocch3 that question, if finding the right answer for the TS is really your intent. I was only trying to present the TS with the facts and let him decide. That's how it's supposed to work you know.

So is it the size of the receiver or how many hoops that one must go through to get the same result that is the key criterion in deciding how to send the programming to a remote TV?

If you have a recommendation that gets the TS all the way to the goal, make it. Getting hung up in duplicating what they already have at non-negligible expense isn't advancing towards the goal.

Maybe. Like I said, I'm not the TS, so direct your questions to the right person.

What difference does it make what I think? It's not my setup.

The H24 is rf capable without an external dongle, and it's got an ethernet port.

Most people with Genie's and H24's don't need the ethernet port on the H24, if the H24 is network provided by the Genie
with a router nearby, since Genie is the wireless bridge to other HD receivers through SWM
Only thing is the H25 doesn't have RF antenna built in like the H24 and other connections already mentioned
But since it's smaller than the H24 I can see why.

You meant to say either "through DECA" or "through coax". SWM has little to do with networking other than it uses the same cabling.

There's no Genie involved here -- at least not yet. If there were an H25, it would require two additional parts just to connect it to the Internet.

No one really uses the H25 or H24 for internet connection as there's no benefit in that
since it doesn't have features like a DVR besides VOD downloading, Everything is done through a Genie or HR2x with DECA or coax, through it's DECA cloud between receivers or Ethernet from router to Genie directly.
Which in turn talks to other HD/DVR receivers

What an interesting conversation.
I will add to it .... why would anyone with a Genie not add , if your adding, a HR 24 ?
your already paying forbthe DVR features with your bill, unless Size IS an issue.
I will ALWAYS side with adding tuners vs a client or other recvr that tries to mimic a recvr.

now that would add a commitment to the situation, but adding ANY recvr would do that anyways, so it all depends on what the sub is interested in.
