I just saw on channel NBC25 Facebook page that those three channels are to be taken off Saturday night. I was not aware of a contract disputes. Anyone have any info on this.

Ouch! My parents won't like that. They are in the Flint DMA and the majority of their viewing is PTAT on their Dish account. All they are going to have left is CBS and ABC.

OTA isn't a great option because rabbit ear antennas aren't strong enough for anything but PBS and they aren't going to want to pay someone to install a rooftop antenna and wire it to their Hoppers.

If this actually happens they will probably just switch to Charter. They have already been thinking about doing that because the double play options are much cheaper than what they pay for Dish and Charter internet separately. The only reason they haven't already done that is because of the hassle of taking off work to wait on an installer all day.

Thanks!

Well, that screws me. I will switch my recording shows on these channels over to my new Tivo Roamio until they get it back.

I'm still tweaking my antenna system a tad more, as I have issues receiving Wjrt-12 (high vhf) 100% of the time. So, I can't dump Dish as of yet.

I can get WJRT with my rooftop antenna at my house but it does have more breakups than any of my other OTA channels. I actually get WXYZ (Detroit's ABC) much more reliably even though it's further away.

I'm in the deep woods, and so far I've cured 98% of my issues with Wjrt by unplugging a Harbor Freight battery charger in my garage, AND my previous Dell laptop power supply brick. Both of those were putting out massive amounts of electrical interference. Beats the heck out of me why Wjrt went back to VHF after all this. They are only broadcasting at 30kw's also, and Wnem-5 is like 1000kw's, which almost overwhelms my antenna system. That causes signal swamping of channels that are weaker.

I can't get any of those channels with an antenna cause I live to far away in the thumb. Hopefully they will get it resolved soon

Yeah, since the digital cut-over, the thumb is a real black-hole for tv reception.

We are planning on eventually moving up to Tawas area in retirement, and that's also a OTA tv reception black hole. I wish these stations would put up some translators in these sorts of areas...

Just got the same message in the Little Rock Arkansas are we are losing KATV channel 7.

In Alpena, Dish also includes NBC25 as a local (all the rest are in Alpena but only 1 is HD). I haven't seen any notice saying NBC25 would be removed. I would think everything from Flint northward would lose them too. This isn't making any sense.

This is what I saw on Facebook

It is a dispute with Sinclair broadcasting group per channel 7's facebook page.
Yeah, it's Sinclair. Dayton OH's ABC affiliate is owned by them and I saw something similar on their FB page as well.

DISH: WILL YOU DISABLE THE OTA GUIDE DATA AGAIN AND HAVE YOUR REPS BLAME THE STATION? No need to answer that ;)

Dish already has a replacement ready for you if it gets pulled. Iirc its Detroit nbc
