I received my replacement Hopper yesterday to replace my faulty one. The old one was still on 528, but I noticed that the new one has 529. I don't think there are many differences though, if any.

This isn't a definitive answer, but when the version # only increments by a single digit, it's likely a deep, under-the-hood change that we certainly won't "see" and may not even be something that directly impacts our use.

My opinion is these are almost all real back-end changes that are necessary for the upcoming interface. What I saw from the leak, that Dish refers to it as "interface" and not "software" means to me that Carbon is just a "skin" or "theme". The old look still existed in many places with the new look too.
