Any more update?

After requesting a different tech and a Hopper 2 system to test for Saturday morning they send the same tech and no equipment to try so the appointment was cancelled. My case has been assigned to Dish corporate so we shall see where it goes from here.

OK, thanks for the update. Good luck to you, I bet they will figure it out.

After several phone calls with Dish including sending them photos and videos of my poor picture quality they told me they showed them to over 10 people and that I don't have a picture problem!!!! They did set up yet another tech visit for saturday to switch back to a Hopper 2 to see if the picture improves. If the Hopper 2 does fix my issue then I will give them some time to fix the issue on the Hopper 3 if it doesn't I am not sure I will stick around the picture is so bad now.

The Hopper 3 picture is fine, in fact it's more than fine, it's fantastic. Like I said before it's sharper than the old UI and it displays differently. As long as you don't get right on top of your 55in or larger TV it looks fantastic. Everybody I've installed Hopper 3's for immediately remark how much better the picture is, even the customer today who was upgrading from a Genie. :)

FYI, when the new UI is downloaded to the HWS or Hopper 2 it will have the same picture as the Hopper 3.

We tried several TV's so it's not the TV. We did not go back to a Hopper 2 yet because it requires everything to be switched back (LNB and switch). That may be my only option.
Hopper 2 WS works fine with the Hybrid LNB, you would have to change nothing.

My picture is garbage compared to my HWS so we shall see when we switch back to test it. How does the UI have anything to do with the picture at all that is just the new interface.

I wish one of you guys who have had great luck with your Hopper 3's lived anywhere near eastern, NC because I need someone to see my system and either agree with me or prove me wrong because Dish doesn't seem to think there is a problem.

I know you took pictures of it. But could you take a HD video with your phone?

I sent pictures and video to Dish corporate and they didn't see an issue.
This just really odd. You likely got excited about having the new H3, so why would you make this up. I saw the pictures and I was not impressed either to say the least. I can't remember, but did the coax get replaced? I know they say it wouldn't make a difference, but what if it is the only thing left?

The software was completely redone including video output. It's very obvious to almost everyone that the picture with the new UI is much, much better than the old UI.

If I get right on top of my 55in Sony TV and take a picture of the screen it's not going to look very good at all. That's just the nature of it.

I have been following this thread since the beginning. I have a Hopper 3 (just switched from D*) and although I will cede that the PQ is not quite as good, it is not terrible either. As a matter of fact, it gets better at certain times of the day and depending on content is either great or awful. Standing back 10' on my 65" I really can't tell a difference between D* and Dish.

I know you have been with Dish before you got the H3, I am just wondering if this could all be just perception? What I mean is that clearly the UI is very modern/clean/perfect, whereas the PQ is not perfect. Going back and forth is like looking at the hot chick (perfect 10) at the bar and her less than perfect sister (a solid 7). :biggrin Could it be just your perception that the HWS is better because the UI is so drastically different?

I have seen the pics and honestly (like others have stated) they look awful but it all depends on content/channel/time of day. Would love to see your Science Channel in HD at night recorded in HD.

Best of luck man.

I realize that yes but all I am trying to do is have the same picture I had with my HWS on the same TV and the same viewing distance.
