CW in HD for Champlain Valley

no clue. Hopefully Hearst maybe prods D* to carry it now since its in HD

Good call. I wonder if they'll dash it like UNC-EX in North Carolina (4 was UNCTV and 4-2 was UNCEX... Even though 4-2 is UNC PBS kids OTA) or the RF method used other places... Like I have WFFF on 43 because WGBX 44 is in the way.

In Windham County, your only hope of OTA is PBS, the Springfield MA DMA, WNNE, and maybe WMUR if you are lucky. Not Boston (except on the properly facing hillsides) or Burlington (except WNNE).

WPTZ 5-2 The Valley CW is now HD. I am not sure when this happened, but it's nice to have the "big 6" in HD in Vermont and NE NY with an antenna finally. Judging from the sharp contrast in PQ between commercials and news, the local news for WPTZ across the board is still SD...
I figure NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX are the Big Four. Adding CW would make that the Big Five. What would make it the Big Six? I'm assuming it's either PBS or MyNetworkTV.

My Network would be the 6
PBS is usually separate

Most people use to (and some still do) say "Big 4 + PBS"

I meant the Big 6 to include PBS, of which I have 5 (5 channels and 5 additional PBS-ish with OTA subchannels). There is no My Network TV where I live. There used to be My39 WGMU but that disappeared long ago. "Moving" to get WSBK is key. Some MY affiliates are boring and filled with Maury and junk, but WSBK isn't. WSBK used to be on cable here and many other places as it is a superstation, and is the secondary CBS affiliate and they do a great job with both in Boston. ACC Network in HD. CBS secondary in HD. Great PQ and sound, excellent night time syndicated selection. I would pay to have WSBK (used to with Dish's superstation pack) but "moving" to get 21 vs 8 Directv LIL channels at the same price is a no-brainer.

Also, WPTZ 5-1 looks noticeably good today, perhaps they've fiddled with things after bumping CW to HD. WPTZ 5-1 is still 1080i. MeTV still looks far better than Directv SD, haha.

I use to get that on free to air when Equity broadcasting owned it. :)

some? How about most ;)
Ours is owned by FOX so they just dump reruns/repeat showings of shows that are on FOX here

agreed!
especially when you found the "Sweet spot" with both your locals and the "moved" locals on satellite

As expected, WPTZ-2 CW is not HD on Comcast or Dish yet. The only way to get it is OTA. This is why I am one of the few who like the AM21, despite its many many many flaws. Without it, I wouldn't watch OTA nearly as much as I do because it is convenient (and I have everything available OTA so that helps me like it... Well almost anything... Canadian channels aren't in it.)

Not true for Dish. Picture is HD. Channel guide reports it as HD. I watched Supernatural the other night and it great to see in HD. The sound though was Prologic/Stereo rather then the normal Dolby Digital normally associated with HD channels.

Did the picture go from Dish's exclusive 4:3 version of the channel to real HD Lite? I won't bash Dish too much since they carry the channel and Directv doesn't..... Glad that it went to HD for you guys, though, that was fast. I admit my Dish info was several days old. The website has been updated to show it now, too.

There are several Prologic HD channels, MLB Network being one that comes to mind. But you're right, usually HD means DD, even if it's DD 2.0. Would you like to see Prologic instead of DD 2.0 like WETK does? Personally, I would. NESN is DD 2.0 except during Red Sox games and it's quite annoying. Either go DD 5.1 all the time or Prologic/Stereo the rest of the time and let the consumer choose how to listen.

Here is a snapshot of my Hopper's guide from earlier in the evening. Check CW's format. :D

Yes it is nice to see CW on WPTZ in 720p. Don't watch much tv, but it's nice to see more channels in HD. Strange thing with WPTZ when they have problems or do modifications, on Samsung TVs they transmit only on real channel 14 with no epg. This only happens on Samsung. When everything goes back to normal the TV switches back to virtual channel 5. On Toshiba there are no issues with channel mapping or epg.
Too bad that WVNY 22 moved to VHS 13. For us up north this created a real challenge to catch it.

I am glad I am not the only one who notices that with Samsung TVs. There is an old thread on here somewhere about that issue that I started a while ago. Even on a LG, they have no program guide. The issues receiving VHF13 could be interference from VHF 12 from Montreal in addition to the VHF digital issues.

CBC Montreal doesn't have guide data for me, does it for you? At night the signal is in the 40s to near 50% but no info while CFCF can have 28% signal and barely be coming through and has guide data. Do you have epg data for CBC Montreal?
