This will be available on Comcast, DirecTV, Dish and EPB.
Tonight's 4K airing of the Opening Ceremony is expected to be in HDR and with Dolby Atmos sound.
Though it is not clear yet whether all providers, particularly Dish Network, will be able to deliver the HDR version. We'll find out soon enough!

This will be available on Comcast

On what device, all the 4K X1 are still in trials ( Comcast employees only right now I have read ), amazed they did not get a app up on the Roku devoted to 4K.

I don't know much about Comcast, but the NBC site states this:

"Comcast
– Xfinity UHD app on Samsung 4K smart TVs"

So, I've recently purchased and XboxOneS and a new HDR enabled 2016 Sony. I also have a 4K Samsung from a few years back. My provider is Fios and I'm a former Directv sub. Fios of course has no 4K options available to me yet. The NBC Sports app appeared on my OneS today so I happily downloaded it hoping that I might be able to stream the 4K events that are being recorded. Does any knowledgable SatGuys around these parts know if they are even offering them through the app? I'm thinking no as I can't find any info leading me in that direction. At some point leading up to the games I did read that the 4K content would be streamed but now I'm finding nada.

Thanks and sorry! It doesn't look like they will be then. I noticed and have used the Comcast 4K test app as mentioned in that other thread but it doesn't look like that's been updated in some time. I was also curious if that was because my Samsung is slightly older. As an example I didn't get the 4K golf others did during the US Open.

I used to have the Comcast app on my Samsung tv. Last night I went to actually download load it to the tv and it was gone from the app store.

Pretty lame. 4K content but not many can view it. I guess I can switch to DirecTV but then as soon as I do they'll release a 4K capable DVR. Not a particularly appealing prospect really. Then one can have D*+fanboys tell you why you don't deserve new equipment. :) so much fun!

The notice I got said that Dish Network's 4K Olympics will only be available with the latest Hopper DVR but no HDR support.* It also said it will be VOD only. Does that mean $$ to watch?
And the exceptions on DishNetwork was No opening ceremony, only events.

I plan to check it out on my Samsung Xfinity app later today with Comcast. Not sure what the limitations will be yet.

* My personal opinion is that HDR is a bit overrated from what I've seen. :(

FYI, the 4K channel is live right now. (Ch.146 on Dish).
No HDR, but it looks great!

From Olympics web site:

PARTICIPANTS

MVPDs making 4K content available to consumers:

  • Comcast – Xfinity UHD app on Samsung 4K smart TVs
  • DIRECTV – linear channel #106
  • DISH – linear channel #146 and VOD (non-HDR). Please note: Dish will not have the Opening Ceremonies during its initial 4K HDR playout.
  • EPB – linear channel #803
For additional questions, please contact your TV Provider.

The Dish HDR statement is a bit confusing.

It also states that the events will be on one day delay for 4K transmission.

This is all reminiscent of the days of HD and then later for the 3D.

As I understand, the only HDR content offered by NBC was the Opening Ceremony. And Dish didn't carry that.
