What Sony's do you have that you Dislike so much ?

Sony doesn't make thier own panels, they have been made by others for quite some time now.

What makes Sony stand out is thier Processing, thats what others have strived to compete with.

Some of you will say that they have been passed up, I will say, you haven't seen Sony's response to the newer stuff out there yet.

Well I guess hes upset Sony wont be making Sony anymore as far as TV's go.

Last weekend I got a TCL QM6K Pro and am amazed at it. Had a friend come over with his analyzer and he was shocked and said for the price its calibration was one of the most perfect sets out of the box that he has seen.

And I don't know what moving from a Sony X90J to this TCL has done to my sound system, but the sound is amazing and supports (and passes through) more formats then the Sony did. Its almost like I got a new sound system as well.

We have an A90j 83 inch and an X900h 85 inch. i don't dislike em at all 5 years old and not one issue.. i could hook em up now and they would fire right up no issue..
i am aware that sony has gotten there panels from LG and SAMSUNG. though sony has always cherry picked there panels...
i feel that sony hasn't brought anything new to the table in a while like a few others on here that do. i am looking forward to seeing there RGB LED models

i am curious if sony will continue to use there power supplies and motherboards wich are reliable!!! who's going to do the firmware updates TCL or sony...

I just wanted to go bigger this time!!!

[Jimbo]

Who says Sony won't be making TV's anymore ?????

If it's thier Processing and Technology, I'm good with it ... they will buy the Best Panel at the time and use that.

If they Share some info with TCL, good for TCL, they can continue to improve ....

I gotta believe that Sony's TV shop did NOT shut down.

Sony, like Panasonic, has become a design company rather than a manufacturer in the consumer space.

A design company ?

A company aligned toward producing product designs rather than physical devices. Sometimes known as an "Ivory Tower" or "Skunkworks".

Sony has not manufactured TV for the US market for many years.
From Grok:

For the last few years leading up to 2026 (roughly 2020–2025), Sony has not manufactured its Bravia TVs entirely in-house for the US market. Instead, Sony has relied on contract manufacturers and partners for assembly and production, particularly for the Americas region.A key player has been Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co.), which has handled assembly for many Sony TVs sold in the US. Sony sold its LCD TV manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico (Sony Baja California), to Foxconn back in 2009/2010, and Foxconn has since operated it to produce Sony Bravia models for the North American market. This arrangement continued into recent years, with reports noting Foxconn's role in assembling Sony TVs amid shifts in response to tariffs and supply chain changes (e.g., some relocation to Malaysia mentioned in 2025 industry analysis).Sony has also sourced panels and components from various suppliers:

• OLED panels primarily from LG Display (and sometimes Samsung for certain models).
• LCD/LED panels from others like TCL CSOT or Innolux in some cases, though assembly was often through partners like Foxconn.

Sony retained oversight on design, image processing (e.g., their acclaimed XR processors), and branding, but the physical manufacturing and assembly for US-market TVs has been outsourced.Recent major development (announced January 2026): Sony signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture with China's TCL Electronics for its home entertainment business (including Bravia TVs and audio). TCL will hold a 51% controlling stake, with Sony retaining 49%. This shift means TCL will take over much of the manufacturing, using its display tech and scale, while products retain Sony/Bravia branding and incorporate Sony's picture/sound processing. The joint venture is expected to start operations around April 2027 (pending approvals), so for TVs sold in the US in the last few years up through 2025–early 2026, the primary contractor has been Foxconn (via the Mexico facility), not TCL yet. This reflects broader industry trends where even premium brands like Sony outsource to manage costs in a competitive, low-margin TV market dominated by companies like Samsung, TCL, and Hisense.

Most items are built that way, with items coming from other sources.

I would imagine most all Electronics are that way, along with most everything else ...
Ever seen a Vehicle that is made with ALL parts from just one company (that would cost a Mint) ?

As long as Sony is the one behind the Processing still, they will be fine.

[harshness]

I disagree, but thats ok.

Specifically, what components do you think Sony produces in-house?

who says sony won't says sony won't sell there 49% at some point .. there's speculation going around about making a sony t.v. cheaper. wich means they cheap out on them!!!

Anything involving the Processing ...
Are we going to tear each part out and determine what Company it comes from ?
