Anyone else get this email from dish? Looks like dec 22 is when the new inferface will be forced to people with the HWS

Sent from my SM-G920P using the SatelliteGuys app!

It says 'it will automatically download.' I read that to say you get it whether you want it or not.
It's hard to read - I guess copy and paste doesn't work ? - but it then says "go ahead and download it early...". I'm presuming they've added a menu or a button in a current menu to initiate it but no one's found it.

I expanded it and did a screen capture. It's a bit blurry but bigger and legible.... I don't know about the download it early part...

I was sure hoping that they had forgot about this whole HWS UI upgrade!! Can't quite figure out why they would do this at this point as some are having problems with it. I suppose since new customers and any upgrades are getting the new CUI that it was bound to happen :(. If it doesn't install with the classic interface then that's probably going to be my first change...

What are the problems the HwS users are having with it?

Yeah...it would be a bit of a pipe dream to think that Dish would continue indefinitely trying to support two different software/interfaces on the same hardware.

Loss of the ability to schedule timers on HWS 2 when all the timers on HWS 1 are busy. Only one unspecified slow back speed. Loss of 4X forward speed. Some have EHD problems. Just off the top of my head.

There is no classic "interface". It is gone. Otherwise, what's the point ? Things are shuffled around, some menus are changed substantially, and so on.

There is a classic color scheme though.

Does anyone have the "New Hopper Experience" app the email mentions?
Just like the "download it now if you want" reference, I'm guessing there is a minor s/w update coming in the next few days that will add two things: 1) The app they refer to and 2) a menu option for initiating the download before the date they indicate.

Its mostly the customers with 2 Hoppers.
Customers with a single H2 would probably have to deal with some missing features like 4xFF but would probably never have many bugs.

There is still the RSN in the Guide bug.
When you expand or collapse you lose the guide cursor and can't select anything unless you exit and enter again.

Dual Hopper setup, Have issues sharing PTA, which results in needing PTA active on all hoppers instead of just sharing 1.

Sometimes Joeys will switch linked Hoppers for no rime or reason.
Sometimes you will get Dup recordings for no reason.

As navychop stated, you are no longer able to send a recording over to an open Tuner to a different hopper to avoid a conflict.
Which IMO is unacceptable.
And I bitch constantly to dish about it.
Even my Dual Roamios allowed this.

I've not heard of many EHD reports.
No more than EHD reports on single Hoppers or even Hopper 3s.
So IMO the UI hasn't had a Known effect on EHD except on the H3s.

Same with recording OTA, There were issues with the H3, but not H2s.

STILL occasionally exiting an app, could bring on a Black screen, with sound, or picture and no sound mostly the My Perks, My account and Weather channel app.

I've never had one issue with Netflix period. Not even on my Joey 1 and I've have CUI since U203.

As far as slower operation, Im going to have to say, If its slower its Minor.
But Ive not noticed a change.

Ive always felt since day one the H1 and H2 were never as fast and snappy as they were claimed to be by Satellite Guys and DBSTALK .
And the Joeys well they are no better than an average Directv C31.

Still slower than the Roamios and Minis no doubt.
H3 may have evened the field.

But Ive also seen reports on H3s many of them with reported Conflicts when using only 5-8 tuners out of 16.
Which brings up many stability questions which is why Ive backed out twice from a scheduled H3 upgrade.
Its hard to get solid evaluation on the forums where there is a fan, there is always a positive.
Even if its not...

Indeed. In addition I believe there are some legal requirements for DISH to have some new accessible features on their receivers before January 1st, so rolling it out with the new UI and just supporting one UI would be the best for everyone in the long run. :)

There must be, because I was kinda shocked to hear that they're planning on doing this so close to Christmas/New Years.....
