I am still having MAJOR issues with the C61K sound cutting in and out. D released my from my 2 year contract and is sending me a non 4K mini until the issues are resolved. Will that fix the audio cut outs? Does anyone have any idea if and when the problem will be resolved. I am ready to move over to Dish as long as I am not getting a 4K signal. Any thoughts?

I have similar trouble with live programming but if I hit the skip back button or watch from the DVR it isn't a problem.
I believe it is a software issue.
Are you having trouble with live TV or with recorded things too?

I am having problems with both live tv and recordings. I can't get a straight answer from D about the issue. All I get is an email once a month saying they are still working on the issue.

D just replaced the C61K with a C41-500. It totally fixed the problem of the sound cutting out, but I lost the 4K. At least I can watch a ststion without the sound cutting out constantly. I'll D a little time to fix the issue with the 4k before I drop D for Dish. If anyone has any info on what is going on with the issue, I'd appreciate an update. thanks

uummm, going to dish wont help
they dont have any 4k yet

wait for the next dtv box, then decide

If your tv has rvu capability I would suggest that for 4K I returned my c61k for the same reasons and haven't had an issue since with rvu

It uses your tv's Ethernet port to connect to the genie basically making your tv a client just like the c61k was not sure if u need DIRECTV to come out to set this up hopefully someone else on here can answer that

the c41k works great without the sound drops. Directv is coming out next Tuesday to do the install. I'll see if it works. thanks

The saga continues. I had the C61K taken out and RVU installed. I am still getting sound drops. I wonder it the problem is with the HR54. I have no problems with the receiver but only the clients. Now I have D coming to take out the RVU and put in an upstairs HR24 on the k set. That should fix the problem but i loose my 4k. If the problem is resolved it would be worth it.

I get maybe one freeze frame/sound drop a day. Just a split second thing. My 54 is in the bedroom and my 61k is behind the TV. Funny thing, I wound the drive back then recorded it then played the offending portion back. No freeze frame/sound drop. Weird.

How about the problem is at the TV? Is it a Samsung with the external connect box?

It is a Samsung with an external connect box. But there is no problem with ota, roku or dvd. It drives me crazy. It happens with external speakers connect with Bluetooth, optical, or the built in speakers. The genie minis connected with HDMI and the RVU connects with an Ethernet cable.

Samsung has acknowledged this problem with the connect box. Check with them for an update.

PROBLEM SOLVED: A tech came out as a last ditch effort on Saturday. I was about to switch to Dish. He looked at the original installation and said he couldn't believe how messed up it was. The HR54 has a built in SWIMM. The orhinal old swimm was never removed and still hooked up. Also my original 2005 main splitter was still be using. He removed the external swimm and changed the spliter. It cured the problem. It's interesting that over the last 4 months, 3 different mini ans a rvu setup and 4 technicians, no one knew what they were doing. How can D send out untrained techs for a 4K installation.
