DISH we lost our OK CBS but give us the OTA programming guide info!!

Who did Dish pay for the guide data ? You're suggesting they quickly negotiated a contract with Tribune for just the guide data. They can't pay (whoever provides guide data) because you said the guide data is part of the channel's contract - two separate entities.
Scott provided a more detailed explanation during the Tribune dispute. Apparently, Dish has a blanket agreement with Gracenote (Tribune) for the guide data for the local stations that Dish carries on satellite, and in the case of the missing Tribune stations, Dish did indeed make an agreement to pay extra for that OTA guide data during the dispute. Remember that Dish was still actively negotiating with Tribune at the time, and Dish was still negotiating with Tribune during the potential Raycom dispute that I mentioned in another thread. (That was another potential dispute when Dish uplinked separate guide data streams for the OTA stations, but the satellite-delivered channels were not removed in that case.) Dish is now no longer actively negotiating with Tribune, which may explain why Dish did not do the same thing this time.

This makes more sense than anything else I read on the subject. But we still don't/won't know for sure.

Not sure if anyone else has tried to get Dish to give up any freebies (ie credit/PPV,??)
I was told to watch online, thru hulu, amazon, etc, even after I said my internet is to slow. Oh, Ok then watch C-span, ID, UP, POP channels.
Even said I pay for a 'locals package', and not OTA adaper for the H3.
Oh, sorry, you can watch thru cbs all access (paid & again online)

So nothing for me =(

Oh well, it was worth a shot for a free movie, or a $5 credit.

Griffin/News 9 has made a temporary agreement with Dish during this Ice Storm and has returned. My guess says it stays. Griffin does not want the backlash again if they take it back down.

Cool, I noticed the guide still says removed; but when watching it's back on.

I notice online under My gifts i could CHOOSE one of several things but not sure if that has anything to do with the LOCAL shut off. Movie channels for a month or 1 PPV

I guess its nice but WORTHLESS without the Guide! I have OTA on my receivers, The GUIDE is really more important to ME than the channel.

Got this from the DTV forum. Atleast DTV knows how to TREAT their CUSTOMERS!!

My local ABC Network has been shut down but the guide info is still there. At least you can see what you are missing and maybe download it from "On Demand."

If you read their Facebook page, might sing a different tune. To each their own, I guess. When I lost NBC, I just used zap2it and set up manual timers. Pretty simple. Oh, I was able to do that because Dish still has the option for an OTA antenna, and DTV doesn't...

Ok, I must be missing something. How is that such a big help? You can't even record OTA with Directv apparently now while you can with DISH, and that is somehow better? I can accomplish the same thing with any of the online program guides AND then record it with DISH or find it on demand if there is no guide info. Directv treats their customers better by not supporting OTA/recording?
