Now that DirecTV has taken away GenieGo which worked very well for me, and I have gotten a box upgrade, the DirecTV app on my tablet no longer works. I get Unsupported SDK Unfortunately this Operating System is not supported by the DIRECTV application at this time.....

Anybody know anything about this and when it might be fixed?

As of last week, mine worked ....
I don't think theres one specifically for tablets though, I think I use the same one on the tablet that I use on my phone.

They actually have 2 for Android devices in the Google Play Store. 1 for Tablets and 1 for phones (sans Tablet verbiage). On another note, the app on my tablet keeps stopped for some stupid reason. Been that way now for months it seems. It will work fine for a bit, then just stop and go back to the app page. No errors, nothing. I restart and plays fine then it may or may not continue working until I get sleepy enough to turn it off :) I've reported it when it was crashing routinely on my phone. Wonder if they broke something on the tablet version.

Yeah, there are 2 apps. I have the one for Tablets installed. I get a "can't install" message for the other one although I didn't catch the reason (it doesn't stay up very long). When I had GenieGo, I could watch anything on my DVR anywhere as long as I had a good wifi signal. It even worked great using my phone as a hotspot for it which really surprised me.

It's been a long time since I downloaded my app on the tablet, I may have had those same issues and said b the heck with it and went to the phone version.
I have been running this same version for a long time now, but I don't use it on the tablet all that often.

Never have been able to get locals to show, I've been told that's because there hasn't been an agreement for the locals with my particular city.
That could very well be true, I don't know.

My android tablet app works fine (well, as fine as it ever did. Still erratic though)
The only locals that will stream directly are those has a streaming agreement. However all the locals will be accessible live via RemoteDVR. .

Maybe it's just Samsung they have a problem with. I thought Android was Android. What I was doing before was not streaming live TV, but recordings on my Genie, but live TV would be nice too.

I can stream on my Samsung (by today's standard it's an OLD S4) anything that shows up in the list of channels allows me to watch.

If I think about it tonight, I might remove my D* app on it and try using the one for Tablets again.
I tried to load it this morning but it wouldn't ...I wonder if that might be because I have the app for Phones on it at the moment (because it works)

I am running the Tablet version. However, I think I may have found the problem. My Samsung tablet must be older than yours. According to DirecTV site I have to have Android version 4.2 or higher and I only have 4.1.2. It's the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.2 original version. Since Android versions are a lot higher than this now, and it claims I'm up to date I may be out of luck. I have asked on the Android Central site for my tablet if that is indeed the case.

Meanwhile, my Android phone which is Verson 4.4.4, and therefore should work is also not working. The app does at least open and allow me to sign in, but when I try to register my DVR I get the neverending circle with "Registering your DVR" that eventually tells me "We couldn't connect to your DVR. Please Try Again. (100)"

I got that same stuff when trying to register, went round and round with it ...
Somehow I am able to stream and load stuff from my DVR, at least it shows that I should be able to.

What I'm hoping to do is to load some of my DVR stuff onto my tablet so I can watch it on the plane in a few weeks WITHOUT having internet access on the plane.

Did you talk to Tech support about it? Did you ever get it to register or are you just working around it? I, too, have an upcoming trip and was hoping to have my stuff available to me although for me it was more at my location because the other people in the group either don't want to watch TV or don't want to watch what I want to watch. My daughter's fiance is going to see if he can help me root my tablet and get a later version of Android on it. I was really hoping to leave the laptop behind. Besides the travel hassle, my Macs have always seemed to have difficulty with altitude, makes the battery bloat and then the mouse won't work unless I remove it.

I ended up removing the app and re-installing it and it now works. However, when I am away from my home network the app won't load, so I'm still dead in the water.

What version are you now running, maybe thats the issue, I don't have the newest as they change often I guess.

And did you load the Tablet version or the Phone version that is currently working ?

I'm currently on 4.9.406 (phone)

I tried downloading the D* for Android Tablets and keep getting a "Can't load App error 505"
I went thru all thier trouble shooting steps ... no luck.

Unless I can't have the app designated for phones on the tablet and the one designed for Tablets at the same time, but you'd think they would tell you that.

I had the latest version for phones on my phone (4.9.406), so that wasn't it. I don't know what uninstalling and re-downloading does, but I just happened to remember reading that somewhere and then saw it again yesterday, so decided to try it.

One other thing. Someone on the ATT DirecTV forums (personally, I think ATT is the whole problem) mentioned that what they did to get it to register was to do Port Forwarding like they had to do for their Genie Go. That might work for you, but I'll tell you what I told him:
I had to do port forwarding several months ago for my security camera (don't remember having to do it for my GenieGo). Anyways, I discovered after upgrading to a faster modem (provided and required by our ISP) that I could no longer access my camera via wifi inside our home network. According to No-Ip, the problem is probably that the modem doesn't support NAT Loopback and is a common problem. I'm certainly glad this was not a problem when I first set up my camera as it would've been difficult if I had to rely on someone outside my home network to verify my setup. Therefore, since the DVR is inside my home network I fear port forwarding may not be an option.

Went out to lunch and tried the DirecTV app again, and this time it came up properly. So, I guess there was something at the other location interfering with it. Now, if only the tablet root will work, I'll be back in business, at least as far as getting the app to work. From what I'm reading the app doesn't work very well. Leave it to ATT to screw up a good thing.

Just for the hell of it, I went over to Costco to talk with a friend of mine in the Wireless section, told her about the issue of not being able to load the app on my Tab 4 ...
So we went over to a Samsung tablet, (don't remember which one but its newer than mine ... ) and d/l the App for tablets with no problem, logged in to verify it works and it did.

I will continue to use the Phone version as it is working on my tablet .... the only think I can see that is different is it is laid out Horizontally instead of Vertically ... which I like.

I've never had a problem with the app working.
