In case folks didn't see this in the guide, starting on 2/9 at 2PM CDT until 2/12 there is afternoon coverage in 4K on channel 106.

How's the picture looking? I haven't been able to make it over to Costco yet to check it out.

I can tell the difference but the regular broadcast for golf is already very good. Only three holes are in 4K so it gets a bit boring after awhile. Holes 7,17, and 18. The natural beauty of the venue itself certainly lends itself to 4K. The announcers ate doing a good job of promoting 4K by mentioning it often. We need more more more. Right now DTV is the tip of the 4K sword.

That's good to hear. I remember years ago when CBS broadcasted the Masters in HD on a local sub channel and how great that looked, so I can imagine how good it looks in 4K.

Observation. The 4K channel just showed a bunker shot on 17. I switched over to CBS and they were showing the same shot. With that direct comparison it was easy to see the PQ advantage with 4K. In 2K the picture was very good but the greens grass looked like a blob while the 4K shot had great definition. Looking a close ups of the shirts the 4K showed actual thread patterns with much better definition. Wood chips are used in some rough areas with the 4K easily showing individual chips and dirt clods. My wife walked into the room and took one glance at the screen and said "wow".

The picture is clearly better. The issue is that it is just a couple of holes and not with the CBS A-team announcers.

I suspect that in a few years we will see the network feed in 4K most weeks.
