I have a Joey Wireless 2.0 and was wondering if/how to extend the range on the unit? I have read the posts here, but my problem is I cannot find the signal using the WiFi analyzer app on Android. It doesn't show up on 2.4 nor 5 Ghz.

No way to "extend", other than re-positioning. It operates in/on it's own specific network. Not detectable as normal WIFI.

I have found mine on a Wi-Fi analyzer app it did not show a name but it showed the make which was echostar technologies and it was usually the same Wi-Fi channels and my home Wi-Fi so I changed the 5ghz channel on my hone Wi-Fi and the wireless joey is much more reliable

That is exactly what my recommendation was going to be, try and find that signal then change your home wifi to something else.

Can you tell me which app you used? I was using Wifi Analyzer - Android Apps on Google Play
I used the same app hit the eye at the top and click ap list

That's not true. You can extend the range by relocating the wireless access point. To do that you have to run a cable from the solo hub or node, which ever is used coming from the client port with a splitter. Run the cable to a place that is closer to the location of that wireless Joey. You'll need to get a hopper Internet connector and plug the cable into the back of the hopper Internet connector and then connect the wireless access point to the hopper Internet connector via ethernet.

Funny thing there, I had already mentioned that. Maybe you did not understand my use of the word "reposition-ing"?

Or I'm blind because I don't see you say anything that comes close to what I said and what you posted why is that the Wi-Fi Joey needs to be re-positioned which is not true

So you just assumed I was not talking either or, since it's a two to tango affair? Of course I was refering to WAP.

OK if that's the case but to somebody who doesn't know any better they might want to know how to relocate the access point

I'm not trying to argue with you and I am trying to feel my way around the site but I am a very detail oriented person and a very high level technician so if I go overboard on my responses than I apologize

No harm, no foul.

FWIW: As someone unfamiliar with the wireless Joey and someone who is familiar with optimizing Wi-Fi networks, I assumed you meant repositioning the Joey, not the WAP. Now that I understand what you actually meant, it makes a lot more sense.

The original post I responded to was "how to extend range" IMO, that traditionally refers to the router, or in this case the WAP. Sorry if normal convention failed me.

I presume all this means the Wireless Joey has an internal antenna, nothing like the RF antenna used by the remote on the Hopper, verdad?

You know, you could duct tape the wireless Joey to the lnbs on a D500 and point it toward the wireless access point...
