Looking closely at the channel logos could they shrink the area where the logo and channel names and numbers are. I noticed some space on the left and right. Maybe that way they could add another half hour?

Remember you have to account for underscan and overscan on the television as not all TV models display the same. I'm sure this is displayed in a title safe area to account for that.

1080p (and 4k) TVs don't do overscan if set to dot for dot (or brand equivalent). Don't Genies allow you to fit the picture to the screen on lower resolution TVs, a feature of the Hopper line.

My point was why is overscan an issue? And, why If ALL TVs can adjust overscan and left/right/up/down? I guess Dish just put the feature in there for the fun of it...

Overscan is stupid. I shut it off as soon as I get the TV. I can't stand small pieces of things getting chopped off and it does without "Screen fit" or whatever your TV calls it.

0XFD6 has fixed most of my problems. The box seems a tad faster, no more constant rapid scrolling if I press the Page Up/Down one too many times, no more loss of indication what channel I currently have selected in the EPG, no more locking up and eventually automatically rebooting when going into the Series Manager. Only outstanding issues are being able to delete shows from the series manager, and changing the selection from All Channels to whatever channel the show is on.

I don’t really care for the idea of channel logos in the guide, still don't have them BTW. Between the logo being in the channel banner, and the on screen bugs most channels have, I don’t need more of their branding thrown in my face. I really like having the guide abbreviation in smaller font underneath the channel number though. I say do away with the logos are add some extra time to the guide.

Agreed ...

Except the problem is some channels like Hallmark HD and a local station here in the LA market, KTLA-5 on its sub-channels. Their CC data becomes visable at the top of the screen with the TV in 1x1 pixel mode.

This is personally annoying to me so I have to put the overscan back in to hide it.

You can CANCEL a recording from the Series Manager, when your in it, hit the Record button, but don't know if you can Delete or not.

Hey, what do ya know, that worked! I was under the impression that pressing the Rec button would only allow you to cancel individual episodes. I just tried that on both The Strain and Blood Drive, it removed them.

Thanks!

Now you do know that if you have shows that go year to year (series) you want to keep them in there thruout the year ...
When the show comes back, the recvr will find it and Record it automatically, as long as you leave it in there.

Isn’t that the whole point of having a DVR? :)

The series I’m looking to cancel are done for good, never to be back. Blood Drive got cancelled, The Strain had its series finale Sunday, and tomorrow is the end of the USA limited series The Sinner.

At one time I was gonna watch Sinner ...
Was it worth investing time in ?

I didn't think it was that bad. A lot of people who commented on various websites think it was too slow paced and boring in some spots. Maybe because it's a limited series, I looked past that. I usually give a new series 2 - 3 episodes before I commit to it. This series is only 8 episodes total, at that point you're 25% through it. A lot of these limited series tend to be 'who dun it' type shows. The Sinner is is a 'why dun it' show, so I felt that made it unique enough to keep watching. There's a lot of flashbacks, which sometimes make shows hard to follow, but I didn't feel that was the case with The Sinner. Not an earth shattering show, but might be worth a try if you have nothing else gong on, if you don't see it no great loss. It has a mild Lifetime feel to it.

Just have to say that the prior few posts are one of the reasons that DIRECTV wants to keep issues threads to just issues with the CE code and not have to wade through tangents like the posts about a TV program.

While true ...

Still I'd say in addition to having an exclusive issues thread moderation is also important even there to prevent such thread drift.

You're the one who started this thread so what am I missing?!!? This whole thread is not keeping it on the CE site! lol

Yes I did, hoping that folks might go over to EdgeCutter to get more info about it.

My comment was concerning how the issues threads over hear always contained a lot of useless information, such all the recent posts about TV programming which has nothing to do with a new UI release.

And when nothing is happening on the home front ...

This thread was started over a month ago, do you think theres is ONLY relevant info in it ?

Would you rather NO ONE post for 3 weeks ?
