DISH Expands Amazon Alexa Voice Control Support

Very carefully, just plug it in! It will then tell you what to do.

You can add skills later. Start with asking the time, today's weather, weekend weather.

Put the Alexa app on your phone or tablet and it will guide you thru setting up wifi access and then you can add the Dish skill.
The app will search for Echo devices then select it and it will say to connect your phone or tablet to the device via wifi then you can set your wifi password in the Echo device. Once that is complete it stays connected to your wifi and you can reconnect your phone or tablet to your wifi and continue the Echo setup by asking it or using the app to view available skills.

I have mine setup to control my Lightify lights and access/play from my Sirius XM along with Amazon Music. I setup my sisters Dot to control her Hopper.

I just switched back to Dish today after a period without satellite. My Hopper 3 nor 4K Joey is showing the Alexa tile in Settings to "activate" the Alexa skill. The Alexa skill said tune to 9607 and wait 40 minutes for an update, which did no good. I guess i'll way a day or so.
It'll show up overnight if not before then. BTW, make sure your looking in settings, not Apps

I will have time to install my new DOT in the morning. In a nutshell how do I install this thing? I want it to just control my Hopper.
plug it in, get the Alexa app on your phone or tablet and log into your Amazon account.
  1. In the Alexa app, open the left navigation panel and then select Settings
  2. Select your device and then select Update Wi-Fi. If you're adding a new device to your account, select "Set Up a New Device" instead.
  3. On your Echo device, press and hold the Action button for five seconds. The light ring will change to orange, and your mobile device connects to your Echo device. A list of avaialble Wi-Fi networks appear in the app.
Note: The Alexa app may ask you to manually connect your device to your Echo Dot through Wi-Fi settings
  4. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the network password (if required). If you don't see your Wi-Fi network, scroll down and select Add a Network (for hidden networks) or Rescan.
MAC address: If you need to add your Alexa device to your router's list of approved devices, scroll down on this screen until you see the MAC address.
  5. Select Connect. After your device connects to your Wi-Fi network, a confirmation message will appear.
  6. 6 Go back to the Left Menu panel and select Music, Books, Video (Or whatever it's called).
  7. Select Dish, open app on Hopper, it will generate a code.
  8. engter the code into the app and Alexa will pair to the Hopper or show your devices and ask which one you want to pair to

Has anyone tried to use it with multiple Joeys? Like I have three 4K Joeys. How will it know which one to switch, fast forward...etc?
I do like the Hopper control so I am looking forward to setting it up with the Joeys. I have a Tap and a Dot. Started with the Dot.... HAD to get the Tap after two days of using Alexa.

Yes. I have mine setup on 3 joeys a HWS and a Hopper 2. With an array of dots and echos. You link the Alexa device with the dish device in the app. Works great.

Having troubles setting up Joey's. Setup is Hopper attached to Harmony Remote in living room with a Joey in the bed room and office. When I link the office devices and speak in the office it works on the hopper but not the joey. Have tried disabling/reenabling and rebooting the echo devices. Any suggestions?
