DISH adds 250 jobs to call center in Tulsa

Good, I hope that reduces the number of calls I make each day that end up in the Philippines

Just because a call center is in the US doesn't mean you're going to get a person that speaks English well. Not only that, I've found talking to some people with thick southern accents can be worse than talking to someone overseas.

I wonder if the language barrier of overseas call centers cancels out the labor savings. If people need to call in twice due to language barriers to get something resolved, then half the staff might be all that is needed for a domestic call center. :)

Lol, I understand. I will occasionally get northern customers or people for the pacific northwest that I have to ask to repeat things. It is just not how we are used to hearing it said.

Yep and it's why I always roll my eyes when people complain about talking to people overseas. There are plenty of poorly speaking people in America too.

Yeah , I feel the same way about northern accents. Ever try to talk to someone from Boston? It’s like a different language.

I know they can be tough to decipher but I haven't really talked to too many with thick accents there. For some reason I've talked to a lot of southerners though. I can handle most accents as long as they talk slow enough but for some reason certain people just talk too fast.

I know that when I used to call and would get a thick foreign accent ,I would hang up or go through cancellations to get an American.

Talking fast is why I have trouble with northern accents. We recently got a weatherman on our local ABC station that was from New York. He would talk so fast that I had to skip back to hear what I missed. He has since slowed down due to viewer complaints about ,you guessed it , talking too damn fast.

Hey Now,
There are no southerners here, just us native redneks and a large contingent of latin visitors
