I want to get a separate setup for when we go to the cabin. I've read a lot here and other places and it seems to be fairly easy and not necessarily against any rules, although that's not what this question is. From what I've read I should be able to purchase a dish and lease a receiver (or buy) and set it up at the cabin. Then we could use our system when we're there. I figured I'd buy the same hardware I have at home to make sure it all worked. Unfortunately I haven't found that setup at Solid Signal, eBay, etc., and I assume it may be an older model (2013 original setup). Below is my current setup and I'd like to know if what I'm looking at is compatible. As a note, I'll only be running 1 receiver.

Dish- SlimLine
LNB- SL5S4NR4-01
Power Inserter- P121R2-16 (21v)
Receivers- H21 & R16

Like I said, all I need is 1 receiver (I don't want to carry one back and forth) that I may purchase and have DTV activate if that's an option. I was looking at the 5 LNB Ka/KU Slim Line Dish SL-5 LNB Combo- DIRECTV 5 LNB Ka/Ku Slim Line Dish Antenna SL-5 LNB Combo (AU9-S-SWM) from Solid Signal. Will this work at my cabin even though my home system is different? Also, which receiver would be best if I want the DVR functions? Thanks for any help in advance.

That dish/LNB should work fine. You will need a power inserter, the 29 volt model is a better option for powering the dish LNB.
The only DVR available now is the HR24.
I think you will be pleased if you call Solid Signal , get them to send you those 3 items, Dish/LNB , PI, HR24 and they can activate the HR24.

If you can't install the dish yourself it becomes more challenging. Ordering a mover connection via Directv will prompt a push for a Genie and questions about the status of your old receivers.
Good Luck

I plan on doing the install. You said solid signal could activate? I assumed I would connect it at home and call DTV and have it activated, then carry receiver to the cabin.

Solid Signal can activate your receiver once connected to any functioning dish

Ok thanks. One more question. If I lease one from DTV, can I connect it at home & have them set it up and then carry to the cabin?

Yes ...
Thats what I would suggest, tell them you want to add a recvr to another room ... They WILL try to get you to upgrade to the Genie at home ... thats really not a bad idea seeing how old your recvrs are.
If you get a Genie, it will be a SWM set up ... the HR24 that was mentioned previously also works with the SWM set up, if you update home, have them add another recvr ... stay away from the Clients if you can, they cannot be moved to the other location.

If you upgrade, go with a SWM set up at the lake as well.
