Yesterday I was on my PS4 main menu which is blue, and saw a black dot. That dot turns out to be a dead pixel. Tried refreshing the panel and also running the Jscreen and it hasn’t fixed it. Basically it’s only noticeable when displaying blue scenes that the pixel is lit black, when displaying bright scene the pixel lights up but it seems to be brighter on the edges of the square.

I bought it from Costco and shouldn’t have a problem exchanging it, but anything else I can do to fix it?
It’s a pain in the butt to box these things up and carry them because of the nature of the screen and being so thin...

Okay, took back the TV, had to go to a different Costco store since the one by my house was out of stock.
Checked the TV, no dead pixel on the new one and the grey uniformity looks to be better on this tv vs the one I just returned.
The previous panel had noticeable grey uniformity problems.

Sounds like you'll be a lot happier with the new set! Congrats!

gadgtfreek It’s my luck while playing a video game I noticed this on the left corner of the screen...
It seems like LG Quality count too is out of the window, thankfully I got it through Costco so I can go replace it with another one...once you see the damn rectangle you keep seeing it all the times...

That may not be the television. Moire patterns are often an artifact of scaling. This is especially problematic with so-called "4K" gaming consoles that almost universally employ upscaling.

If the problem is scaling, a new panel/TV isn't likely to fix it as the problem lies in the scaling unit in the video game or the TV.

The issue shows on all inputs, the previous tv that had the dead pixel didn’t have this weird issue.
It mainly shows on grey or bright color scenes the most.
So it shows on directv, PS4 Xbox one x and Apple TV.

Unless OLEDs are susceptible to convergence issues (OLED layers out of alignment?) or that scaling hardware has some level of "partial failure", I'm baffled as to why you would see and interference pattern showing up.

So hopefully third time is the charm...so far I see no issues on the edges...knock on wood...and hopefully no more issues. These things are extremely thin. So carrying them is a pain.

LG has been known for having poor quality control when it comes down to tv panels. Hopefully we have seen the last of this.

My next tv for the living room was gonna be an A1E but I might wait to see what this upcoming year brings, Android TV kinda kills the mood... I was tempted to get a QLED but after comparing to OLED they fall short, even the Sony 900E look as good as the QLED at half the price.

P.S: the uniformity on this tv is even better than the previous ones, the grey scenes on the left use to be slightly better.

Funny how the instore unit looks flawless!!! I should have them give me the store unit!

When you pay $1600 for a tv you expect a nice flawless screen.

I think this is an unrealistic expectation. The only way you can reasonably expect a flawless panel is to buy a studio monitor and those go for tens of thousands of dollars. What you're left with is trying TV after TV until you find the least flawed one.

It is kind of like picking through the bin a Harbor Freight looking for the caster with the smoothest bearings. The consumer marketplace is all about tolerances and the lower the price, the wider the tolerance.

Still I would think with the amount of complaints about banding and poor screen assembly they would address this issue because then the company would have to refurbish them and sell them at a lower price, plus the amount of money they would have to spend to fix the issue.

Several people over avs reported that they had to play the screen lottery game...it’s very stressful lol.

I doubt there’s much refurbishing possible on a panel.

I guess my next one will NOT be an OLED.

I wouldn’t give up on OLED, black levels are just stunning, I really believe in the OLED technology, also viewing angles are fantastic.

While the viewing angle is a big draw, black levels are something that precious little of my source material features so it is hard to place a overwhelmingly high value on it. Nits/candela/lumens I can use with most all of my content.

That said, I sure wish my clock radio, a second generation Grace Digital Encore, had an OLED display rather than an LCD display.

There’s still a rea$on OLED is not likely to make it into my home anytime soon.

Don't go look at them. Saw an LG at Sam's Club, no idea what model. They had a Dolby Vision demo going. Awesome. Colors were almost too intense but I could probably get used to it.

Not in the market yet, waiting a bit for the standards to firm up some more. Hoping to wait for HDMI 2.1 as well.
