Tonight, I used the Dish website chat utility to ask to be upgraded from my current two Hopper with Sling's to two Hopper 3's. The chat representative refused to do it. She said that, because Hopper 3 has 16 tuners, nobody needs two Hopper 3's, and she said she is forbidden to authorize two on one account. I argued with her; I told her that lots of people in the past have got two Hopper 3's on one account. She implied I was mistaken. I told her I need two Hoppers because I wanted to keep my DVR recordings private to one Hopper (so that the kids can't see them). She, in essence, said "too bad". Will I have any better luck if I, instead of using the chat utility, phone Dish and personally speak with a representative on the phone?

Call DISH during the day time Monday thru Friday. Don't take no for an answer. Tell the CSR you want to talk to someone higher up. If after your hot pursuit and you still get no, call back another time and try again.

You do know that you will have to purchase the second H3?

If you kept a copy of the Chat, you might send it to DIRT. They might could use it for training.

Today (Wednesday), I chatted with a different Dish chat CSR. At first, she told me that two H3s are not allowed. But when I told her I wanted two for privacy reason, she conferred with her boss who told her that I could have two if I paid $100 for the upgrade, paid $359 for the second H3 and paid $95 for the installation. I agreed to that, and the installer is coming tomorrow.

Do you have the Dish protection plan? That $95 fee would probably go away if you did.

You paid $110 dollars more through Dish for the second H3 had you bought from Dish Depot.
