1: Lack of Fox News Go streaming access.

2: Dish is HD-Lite

3: I can’t get as many locals with Dish whether my service address is at actual location or at a “moved” location. Such as CW in my actual area, more PBS stations in whatever address I use, or SV locals that I could use when “moved”.

If Dish fixes those things, I’ll switch right away!

As someone who recently switched from DirecTV to Dish, I agree with Scott on item 2.

There is exactly 1 local subchannel I don't get on Dish that I got on DirecTV, but I feel your pain. I assume you are too far away to pick up the missing locals OTA?

#1 - use the Hopper and stream it.

#2 - is false.

#3 - there is likely not any real difference.

Actually I have an antenna and am “moved” as well. I was just making a point.

On #3, I get two markets (have SV locals as stated) at my “moved” address with DirecTV. With Dish I could either get one or the other (depending on my “moved” address), and that doesn’t count the subchannels that would be missing.

What area? I have found very few differences in local channels.

So let me get this straight, you are breaking the law and not happy that one of the two satellite providers is sophisticated enough to ensure that doesn't happen? Wow.

There’s nothing illegal about “moving”. In fact “moving” has been discussed on these boards endlessly. And it’s actually done all the time.

He’s not breaking the law. At the very most, its a violation of the terms of service with DirecTV.
I ‘move’ with Dish all the time. I am in the Birmingham DMA, but I get all the Birmingham stations OTA, and I ‘moved’ to an Alabama county that is in the Atlanta DMA.
Last week, when we were expecting snow, since it was coming in from the west, I ‘moved’ to a Mississippi county in the Memphis DMA because I wanted to watch the weather and news from Memphis to see what we might expect from the snow. Later, last week, I ‘moved’ back to the Atlanta DMA.
One thing I do miss about DirecTV receivers, is that you could manually change the time zone in the receiver’s settings. So I could ‘move’ to a DMA in the eastern time zone that didn’t have any counties in the central time zone.
With Dish, I have to make sure that the DMA I want to ‘move’ to has a county that is in the boundaries of the central time zone.

There is no law against telling your Satellite provider you live somewhere from where you actually do, and then get those locals. So now that part is straight. Second it isn't with one he can do it and one he can't, with one they don't carry as many of the channels or SV channels. Now that part is straight too. :)
As bobvick posted it may be against the terms of service at worst. If it was illegal we probably would not be discussing in the forum.

I dont think Dish really cares where you live as long as you are the one telling them.

My biggest beef is i BELIEVE you should be able to see LOCAL channels for the State you LIVE in. That is where i pay taxes and vote for my politicians. Give me my DMA channels but let me WATCH my state college team and see what kind of JOB the people i have to vote for are doing. OKIES dont like to watch Texas foootball!!

I don't think they really care, if all of your receivers are at the same address, and you keep the bill paid.
